Cruz would've gotten destroyed in the Rust Belt and in the parts of the north where Trump did unusually well (all of New England). He may have been marginally better in Arizona and Georgia and TX, but he's just not a likeable dude at all, and I'm not convinced he really would've done better than Trump anywhere outside the Mountain West/Plains.

Virginia and Nevada easily.

I could see Ohio flip because of Kasich's campaigning for him hard too.

There's very little about Cruz that is naturally appealing to people. I can't, visually, see him triumphing over Sanders unless some real ratf#cking happened (which, I guess, is very much a possibility). But if we're in the world where we're seriously speculating that Sanders could have succeeded where Clinton failed against Trump, then I think it's perfectly fair to see him beating Cruz.

Cruz literally orchestrated the shutdown. He'd be lucky to get Trump numbers in NOVA, let alone improve on them, even against a socialist.

-Agreed.
