I doubt its the 88-89% the exit polls has said (probably closer to 82%) but anyways if that high a % vote republican, does that mean that even white criminal defense/ambulance chasers vote republican?

Is this data from 2012?

If so, the racial polarization in the south is more impressive than I thought.

Keep in mind MS's education and income levels. Less than 10% of MS's white population are going to be the sort of Democratic-leaning professionals you're describing. The lawyers who defend timber companies and Wal-Mart are most definitely Republicans. The stereotypical small town bow tie-wearing lawyer who went to Ole Miss and just writes wills all day is probably a Republican too.

White voters in MS are very traditional and will not vote for the party of Kennedy-Johnson-Humphrey that invaded their state in the 60s. Wiccans, gays, and trial lawyers vote Democratic-- but that is a very small percentage of the White population. Plus, MS is nearing Black majority and traditional whites aren't going to let it "tip".

How would white engineering/tech workers in Mississippi vote?

I know programmers in general lean Dem, but would this be the case there?
