Ensure Our Future Act

1. A scholarship program shall be created to provide $5,000 each to well qualified children with a GPA of 3.0 or above whose parents never received above a high school education, with the amount given rising based on qualifications

2. $500 million will be appropriated to this program, with additional funding accorded to the program through a public-private partnership by charitable donations and coordination with non-governmental organizations

3. A non-partisan commission will be created to mandate fair school districts to stop the practice redlining school districts

4. The "The Get Involved in School Act" shall hereby repealed

5. $50 million in block grants shall be provided for technology use in the classroom in under-performing schools

A bit expensive, don't you think?

Less than I would like it to be. Right now, a huge amount of youths are remaining in poverty and often do not have the resources to go to the same colleges that similarly qualified students can afford to go.

I would expect ~50,000 students to receive funds from the starting funds and more with help from NGOs. This is simply an investment in our workforce which will pay off over time.

Have you compared it to existing education programmes and expenditures?

From the budget: $146.20 billion - School aid $56.50 billion - Elementary, Secondary & Vocational education $89.70 billion - Higher education. That is all I have to compare the amount to as we don't seem to have any scholarship programs established. I believe this is a great start for a program that can accomplish much without breaking the budget.
