...at the funeral of Officer Ramos. Not the world's biggest de Blasio fan (him showing up late to last night's funeral for the other officer certainly doesn't help, although I suspect that may have been part of some sort of arrangement) but this is still shameful, disgraceful, etc...

The fact that they're blaming the Mayor for what a (probably) mentality ill man did is beyond stupid.

Even taking these killings out of the equation, it's much easier for them to blame the Mayor and his supposed "anti-cop rhetoric" (which is absolute garbage) than to look inside and evaluate what their own actions and policies have done to lead to the current situation that we find ourselves in.

De Blasio isn't even anti-cop.  He gave a nice eulogy for slain officer, and cops that turn their backs on the Mayor are complete morons.

The police can treat people any way they want and face no repercussion, but if anyone dare point out the problems plaguing police departments  (Which even the most pro-police hack has to admit exist; you CANNOT tell me that there are not genuine racists in many police departments regardless of your "Most cops I've met are helpful!" stance) then the police will happily lump them in with cop-killers and refuse to acknowledge any criticism.

The fact that not ONE police officer has said anything even REMOTELY close to "I'm sorry, and we need to do better" is both telling of the police culture, and of their character.

Idiots. They should be blaming the NRA for allowing such a criminal to buy a gun.

If I didn't know any better, I'd think that Bill de Blasio himself shot and killed those cops. So unfortunate that this is how the police want to respond.

The Mayor can't fire mass numbers of union workers because they're mean to him.

De Blasio needs to pick a side, and when he chooses whether or not to reappoint Judge Laura Johnson, it'll become clear. If he dismisses her for her radically anti-cop actions - springing people who threaten the life of cops with no bail, for one thing - the outrage will die down.

The "needing to pick a side" is exactly the problem and speaks volumes about the cop culture.

Not really. You can stand in the middle between cops and protestors, but not when those protestors start chanting for dead cops and radical judges start freeing people who make terroristic threats.

The only information I can find this (other than the average right-wing trog-blogs) is the New York Post. Find me some unbiased info about it and we can talk.

As offensive as I find these pigs, they're within their rights to protest... as nonsensical as it is. Unfortunately, the bridge between the cops and the mayor will likely never be repaired.

The Democrats lost the 2002 MN Senate race for far far far less than this.

Symptomatic of what is wrong with internal police culture.

If they can be so disrespectful to the mayor by turning their backs on him, just imagine their treatment of just an ordinary citizen.

This is not NEARLY as disrespectful as the rioting and looting that others have done to protest this crisis.......

What will they do if he is re-elected...again...and again....and again?  Are they going to continue to turn their backs on him if he winds up staying as long as (or longer than) his predecessor Michael Bloomberg?  They are going to have to come to terms with the fact they have a mayor who is unwilling to be their bitch.

The cops in the country have become utterly corrupt if they can't even deal with the misdeeds of their own. They protect their own regardless of whether or not they are in the right, and it is absolutely horrifying considering the power the police hold. They are the only ones who are allowed to lawfully use force in this country. Don't you think it is a good idea to make sure they have proper oversight? That is why the NYPD is so anti-De blasio. They don't want to change, and the unfortunate murder of those two officers lets them off the hook. Absolutely disgusting.

nope, it's working, and they'll get what they want.  de Blasio is completely neutered, and has ceased to appear in public without Bratton at his side.

de Blasio will beg and plead with them to forgive him.  spineless, yes, but he knows who and what he's up against better than we do... I don't doubt that he has reason to fear far, far more than simple political fallout.
