Yeah, I grew up with 5 television stations, including PBS.  We didn't have cable, and we didn't have a VCR.  It was fine at the time, but if I had to go back to that now, I would be bored out of my mind.

Regarding the internet, it's amazing to think how much information we didn't have access to, even when I was living in the dorms.  I had encyclopedias and almanacs and the like, but there were still common topics of conversation, such as song lyrics, which were impossible to look up.

I doubt it. Plus, I'm bored with the internet now, partly because it's not ingrained in me to actually go out and do things. No internet would be refreshing.

No -as a kid you had other forms of entertainment at the time, like walkmans (remember those?), and television with a VCR, back in the day when we had to have rabbit-ears to see anything.

And of course there were board games and toys, as well as books.  There was plenty to occupy myself with.

No, in fact life with the Internet can be even more boring than life without.

Past generations have always found different ways to entertain themselves. As a child, I watched a lot of television, and read my encyclopedia set and atlases. Of course, there was so much more esoteric data that I wanted to get my hands on that I could not until the expansion of the internet.

Oh you younglings. It was a simpler time back then. I remember I would go outside and ride the bike or play with hot wheels. I used to go to the library to find more information on things that interested me. If I want to talk with someone I would call them up on ye olde telephone we had. This was also before global warming so I remember having to walk in the snow to get to school. Uphill both ways!

Boy the way the Spice Girls played
Songs that made the NOW cds
The economy had it made
Those were the days.

And you knew who you were then
Girls were goths and men were emo
Mister, we could use a man like Bill Clinton again

Didn't need no austerity state
Everybody had slim weight
gee our Toyota Camry ran great
Those were the days!

Nah, it wasn't boring for me, but I was 11 when we actually got internet in the home. Before that it was just something we used in school (though I do remember being very excited to use this in elementary school). Before getting it in the home, I had encyclopedias, 4 TV stations via antennae (then later satellite), VCRs (we got a DVD player around the same time we got the internet), video games for a few years before that, a very active imagination and a computer for a year before I had internet.

I'd like to think that without the Internet we'd all be out engaging in social activities and having actual conversations with the people we were with rather than sitting silently and doing stuff on our phones.

I remember back when when kids would go outside to play rather than sit on their smartphone or laptop 24/7...those were the days.

I have a theory that the inexplicable decline in crime since the 90s is linked to the rise of the Internet for cheap entertainment.

Noooo. Lots of good times and no "virtual" relationships. You wanted a certain girl you learned how to get her good and proper.
