Fell in love with the game again and have started to do a lot of reading up on strategy and tactics. Really exciting game IMO, anyone else play a lot? I would love to set up a couple games online (Chess.com is a great site).

PM me if interested...

We've had, I think, five Forum Community Chess tournaments hosted by the Gameknot website over the past few years.  There are a small but enthusiastic group of players on Atlas who regularly participate in them.  They might be interested in starting another one, I'm not sure.  In any event, there are players here.  I've played off and on in live and online tournaments for the last twenty-five years or so.

I'm quite out of practice, but I'd love to participate in a Forum Tournament -- somehow I'm always offline when those begin.

Who organized this tournament in the past? That would be awesome to participate in...

I do, but infrequently.  I'm not very good, either.

I have organized them in the past and so have a few other forum members.  Tell you what: if we can get enough players willing to participate in a tournament, whether it's elimination, round-robin or whatever, I'll do the pairings, post the results and keep it running smoothly.  I shouldn't play though, since, though I don't mean to be immodest, it wouldn't really be fair.  So far we have three who have indicated interest, and a minimum of four will be necessary to run a tournament of any kind.

I haven't played recently because I don't know any chess players but I'm really good at it.

Ok, well, if everyone, CTRattlesnake, Vosem, Oldiesfreak, Malaspina Gold, locke lamora and Franzl want to play, that gives us six, which would work for a round-robin.

If all of you want to play, if you haven't gotten an account on the Gameknot website yet, please go to
http://gameknot.com and register for a free account.  Once you have it, please confirm on this thread that you're ready to go.  I will then do the pairings for the first round and post them on a new thread in Forum Community called "FC Chess Tournament 6" with a few other instructions and we'll get started.
