Lynch won by 8 in 2010, against a guy that wasn't getting pimped by every 2016 Republican presidential contender under the sun.

Thanks I was not aware of that.

2010 was an even stronger Republican year than 2014, so I don't know how much to read into that.

Lynch had been twice reelected with around 70% of the vote in 2006 and 2008.  I believe he also left office with very high popularity.

I think both him and Hassan would be very strong candidates. I'm just saying you can't really hold her 2014 margin against her without holding Lynch's 2010 margin against him.

Fair point, however from wiki:
In April 2012, Lynch's approval rating was again above 70% making him the second most popular Governor in the United States, behind New York Governor Andrew Cuomo. Lynch enjoyed bipartisan support and is the most popular Governor in the state's history.

Alaska - Mark Begich
Arizona - Kyrsten Sinema
Arkansas - Mike Beebe
Florida - Patrick Murphy or Gwen Graham
Georgia - John Barrow, or Nunn, or Jason Carter...tough call
Illinois - Lisa Madigan
Indiana - Evan Bayh
Iowa - Tom Vilsack
Kansas - Paul Davis
Kentucky - Steve Beshear
Louisiana - Mitch Landrieu
Missouri - Clint Zweifel
Nevada - Catherine Cortez Masto
New Hampshire - Maggie Hassan or John Lynch
North Carolina - Kay Hagan
North Dakota - Mac Schneider
Ohio - Ted Strickland
Pennsylvania - Joe Sestak
South Dakota - Jason Frerichs
Utah - Jim Matheson
Wisconsin - Russ Feingold

As the DSCC chair, I wouldn't waste money in Alabama, Idaho, Oklahoma, or South Carolina. Also, I selected younger candidates in South Dakota and North Dakota since I don't want to waste a good candidate against entrenched incumbents. For the remaining races, I'd go with the Dem incumbent.
