Context:

Hah, this is just a case of a guy who spent years primarying incumbent Democrats until he was finally successful trying to prevent any proteges from doing the same to him.

I think this would be a great idea, to be honest, and I'm no Trump supporter.

Yes, but you were before Syria.

I mean this in the least offensive way possible, but I legitimately think a lot of Trump supporters think it's either:

Support Trump...
...or the brown people take over.

Being a Trump supporter is all about trolling liberals.

There are no ideas, principles, intellectual arguments, or even fresh new policy proposals in the new Republican Party today. It's just: ''Let's trigger libs'.'

The odds are 50/50 and any predictions are wishful thinking by either side.

The election will be determined by factors that are not known yet:

- The Democratic nominee and the unity of Democrats in general
- The economic situation in the fall of 2020
- Trump's popularity (unlikely that he picks up much more support, but who knows?).
- Foreign or domestic crisis (terrorist attack etc.)
- Outcome of Russiagate and potential future scandals
- Campaign performance (gaffes etc.)
- Voter turnout and mobilization

while women are socialized from a creepily young age to not think much about sex (at best) or view it as something they owe to men (at worst).

But even women who grew in open minded places, where the values are modern, and were not socialized to not think much about sex or view it as something they owe to men, don't want to pay for the services of male sex workers.

The idea that nice modern educated open-minded Smiley Smiley Smiley social circles are devoid of sexist norms is ludicrous. If anything, this forum is the ultimate proof that you can be very "modern" and still hold on to sexist notions.

We cannot hurt the working poor, the drug addicted, and the mentally ill. If saying this makes me fiscally irresponsible, so be it. When we hurt the most vulnerable in our society, we show ourselves to be people who do bad despite knowing better.

Speaker Ryan is asked if he still has confidence in Trump. "I do," he says as he leaves press conference

I have never ever EVER understood, even during my time there, why the mods punishment system seems adapted towards tolerating repeated misbehavior with no punishment worse than removing offending posts, and then a death sentence long after it's due or, occasionally a temp ban followed by super-duper probation that inevitably ends in the subject being banned eventually. Just ding people for short-term temp bans like a week or two to cool off, increase penalties as infractions rise, and then if the dolt doesn't respond to repeatedly being booted off for weeks at a time, oblige them with a permaban.

Give CC a week off as a well-earned swat on the nose and move on.
Because they are too concerned with appearing fair, And the inevitable wailing and gnashing of teeth from the usual suspects when someone is eventually banned.

I imagine if Gianforte was alive in Jesus's time he would get snotty because Christ wasn't spending enough time on carpentry to justify all that free time giving Sermons.

And as for yahweh awarding himself a one day weekend, well...

Gianforte would of body slammed Jesus

If Jesus were alive today, he'd be killed by the same people who shout his name the loudest.

If by tough guy you mean colds English Pete out on his b*******, then you're correct.. By the way, those blue blazer types in the young Republicans you deride so. You are so so so very very much one of them. Trying to make a distinction between the brand of edgy angry white right-wingers is a Fool's errand

The bolded part is especially true with regard to Sanchez.

I genuinely can't believe that I'm finding myself agreeing with this (I love Star Trek, for crying out loud!) and the fact that I do is itself disturbing to me, but:

"The future" is terrifying and needs to stop. That's why.

Perhaps it's just me, but I'd expect an aspiring professor (she's an assistant professor) would conduct herself with more dignity than she demonstrated in this article. Not to mention her exploitation of "the full range of [her] first amendment entitlements;" and I thought I was pretentious...

In modern academia this sort of conduct is likely viewed as an asset rather than a liability. Many departments are almost entirely politicized at this point, especially post-Trump. Younger American academia is full of people, who if by some extreme misfortune, ever did manage to come to power would begin by guillotining a quarter of the country.

A bit. Liberals need to fight harder for issues like subsidizing surrogate mothers for gay couples and allowing same-sex couples to adopt children.

Government paying mothers to give their children to someone else is a perfect example of neglecting the importance of family.   Privileging funding for child care outside the home over supporting parents in caring for children at home is a less extreme example of this.

I am sure that you will be shouted at for saying this, but I was taken aback by this example as well.

It is extremely disturbing to see this conversation, which is ostensibly about how liberals should think about "family values" as of 2017, turn to the suggestion that we use tax subsidies to coerce poor women into becoming rentable wombs.

MSNBC is not FNC or CNN. It's more than just a profit center. FNC reinforces existing beliefs to make money, CNN manufactures BREAKING NEWS and on-air conflict to make money, while MSNBC is a tool for Comcast to stay politically relevant and attempt to drive public discourse on its own terms. Which show is more politically relevant? Fox and Friends or Morning Joe? The Five or MTP Daily? O'Donnell's ratings aren't everything.
