It gets worse:

Not to engage in whataboutism (I’m tepidly pro Cordray) but I eagerly await everyone jumping on the establishment’s connections to the Saudi, Qatari, and Emirati royal/noble families, or to the Mubarak regime back in the day and no doubt the Sisi regime in the future with the zeal we’re all jumping on Kucinich for association with Assad.

We’re the imperial hegemon atm (or at least we were, and are a great power now). Really unpleasant people the world over want our politicians’ support. I should hope that we’re all not so naive as to judge Kucinich for merely backing a loser in the lobbying game of “Get Washington To Forgive Your Atrocities.”

People talk about how Hillary Clinton needs to go away, but those people can't seem to get away from her!

There's truth to this.

Not personally supporting gay marriage (while pretty much allowing the issue to stay dead and not reopen it) does not equal homophobia

The 100% mandatory social positions people have to have in order to not be a pariah change like every 6 months. Can we at least not require them to be retroactive? Literally no one will be able to have a job.

No Kasich, the Republican party has always been about the ideas that Trump represents. Simply, until Trump, Republicans were usually able to hide it while they speak.

Cultural appropriation is one of those concepts that makes sense (even if you don't agree with it) in the rigidly defined world of academia, but has proven super invasive and moronic as a meme by your Intro to Post-Colonial Theory 101 crowd, who have morphed it into a deranged form of shaming others for performative wokeness.

To me it's almost offensive in the era of Trump and his followers to be overly concerned with this trivial nonsense.

I'm definitely voting for the guy again but you can't say he's without flaws, not least the fact that a sizable portion of the party has been trained to despise him on a Pavlovian level. In real numbers this group is not that large, but unfortunately Twitter has a stranglehold on the media discourse, because that's where all the media people happen to be.

ITT: white people with little to no experience being marginalized think they understand culture.

Please explain how China is marginalized. I'm all ears, oh wise one.
- snip -

I didn't ask about Chinese-Americans, and I know American history. The obnoxious, patronizing tone isn't going to win anyone over to you.

A traditional Chinese dress isn't the cultural property of Chinese-Americans. If it was something created by Chinese-Americans, or specifically associated with Chinese-Americas, I would agree with you.

It's not.

1. At the risk of getting a bronz medal, both sides in this debate are obnoxious and patronizing.

maybe if fixing immigration is so easy Trump should try doing it himself!

Oh wait, he's a silver spoon playboy who never did anything (other than pornstars) in his entire life.

By Atlas: Bill Clinton. God does Atlas seem to love to hate him.

I agree with this. People on Atlas seem to not understand the context of the times Bill was governing in. Obama seems to get much more of a pass for his attempts at Rockefeller Republicanism (grand bargain) than Bill Clinton, and Obama governed in a much more liberal time than Clinton.
Bill Clinton literally worked with Republicans to pass legislation that actively hurt people that voted for him.

This thread is proof that people are actually more interested in fighting culture wars than talking about issues that actually have an impact on people's lives.

I find this terribly depressing.

You wanna talk torture? How about being trapped in a 110 story building that’s on fire and your choices are to burn, suffocate, jump 1300 feet to your death, or die in a structural collapse. I’m absolutely not against waterboarding or shocking these absolute animals

Oh spare me Limo the biggest political needs like G. Elliot Morris have said that this is suppose to be the best time polling for the party in the WH during the midterms. The fact that dems are leading by around the 6-7 points they have since forever is better than the reps were in 2010 and 2014.

It's almost as if Atlas doesn't realize that objectively horrid candidates like Joe Walsh won in 2010 solely because he had an (R) next to his name. It's almost as if Atlas doesn't realize that a bunch of literal socialists won HoD races in Virginia last year solely because they had (D)s next to their name.

Behavior like this is why we need to make racist/hate speech a criminal offense, much like they do in places like Germany.
No thanks. We can make this guy a social outcast without doing away with the First Amendment.

The First Amendment shouldn't be able to be used to protect hate speech.
And yet it has to, otherwise the First Amendment means nothing.

Here's how people actually vote:

1) Your either left or right politically

2) You adopt the positions of your party or political leanings the majority of the time without much thought

3) You then seek out information from your preffered biased sources to justify a position on an issue you know nothing about

4) But you never actually give a shìt if the issue is achieved and never check up on it again (notice Trumps base doesn't care he failed to build the wall)

Anyone remember that Gravis poll from April 11 that had Joe up by 10? Good times.

Those were both of the other Republican opponents Rotika and Messer. Braun stayed out of the fray and rightfully has a positive impression as well.

Donnelly's Approval rating meanwhile has slipped.
Change in Gravis Polls:
April - 47/32 Approval
May - 41/40 Approval
What has Donnelly done in the past month to warrant a 14-point swing in approval?

Gravis is a crappy pollster. It's as simple as that.

According to this forum, who isn’t a crappy pollster?

He's a Lawyer in New York City... how the hell does he have this kind of mindset?

Because racism is a problem that plagues everywhere and spares nowhere.

The interesting thing is that Gorsuch just passed the buck over to Congress just when Democrats needed to win back blue collar workers. We shouldn't be reacting to this by whining about "Muh stolen seat", we should actually be campaigning on this as an issue.

Aren't you the person that went from voting for Jill Stein to being a libertarian in a few months?

It wasn't a few months, nor was I anywhere near the average Jill Stein voter in 2016 (though I certainly was in 2012), but it's pretty funny seeing the time frame become shorter and shorter everytime someone brings it up Tongue

I also don't even consider myself a true libertarian at all, and have even mentioned on here and several other forum related places that I still haven't actually left the Green Party, in fact there have been several local Green Party affilated gatherings and such that I've participated in recently. I may not agree with them on quite a few issues, but I still agree with them on a number of issues that are most important to me.
