The positive side of an O'Malley for president bumper sticker is that you'll be the only person in the entire country that has one. This could come in handy if your car gets stolen or you forgot where you parked.

Harry - you are not going to change my mind or even cause me to think.

You are not going to change my mind.  Ever.  Period.

Ha! Classic yet common sense when talking to Harry.

Robespierre was basically an Atlas poster, albeit one who ended up with the authority to order the execution of his political opponents.

The depressingly true:
One thing I notice on all Gallup historical trends is that in late 2000/early 2001 we were pretty much on the cusp of Americans having FF opinions on everything, and then 9/11 came and turned everyone into a HP.

And the comically simple:

It doesn't translate much into political support in the Democratic Party, which is surprising. I could see a Democratic congressional candidate from a district with a substantial Muslim population trying to win support on that issue by promising to be a voice for Palestine in congress.

I think Keith Ellison is the only one who would have any opportunity for that, since he represents Dearborn.

There's a Dearborn in Minnesota?

There's a lot of deer born in Minnesota, son

'Consistency' is a worthless political virtue. In the same way that a doctor prescribing the same medication for every ailment would be a quack, a politician who has the same solution for everything is a charlatan.

More than the money, working at a grocery store would finally eliminate the excuse that McDonalds was more convenient than going to the grocery store after work, because he'd be standing in one when he punched out.

Maybe this is the sleep deprivation in me talking, but "you're completely unattractive to me, maybe we could register voters together" is either the best let-down line or the worst pick-up line I've ever heard.

The entire country is pretty much Republican. The most watched news network is Fox. The most listened to talk radio show is Rush Limbaugh. There are 50 Governors, only 18 of them are Democrats. The Republicans just gained more seats in the House and Senate than they have had in decades.

The entire country is pretty much Republican, which is why the Republicans haven't comfortably won a presidential election since 1988! It all makes sense now.

It's kind of irrelevant.

My religion says so is not a valid public policy reason for anything.

We have secular law in the United States.  You can believe that homosexuality is a sin, eating pork is a sin or that music is a sin.  But, you can't ban music, pork or homosexuality because you think God hates those things.  I think that's pretty clear.

I really don't want Reid to ever be Majority Leader again, but if forced, I'd choose Grimes, Hagan, Begich, and Braley.

It says Democrats only, not closeted Republicans.

Even though the Republicans have issues on the Presidential level, they are actually quite strong on the State and Congressional level at this point in time. The only areas of the country where the Democrats are that strong on those levels are the East and West coast and some of the more urban areas. In addition, most people generally support the conservative position on a majority issues with the exception of economic issues such as reducing benefits from programs such as Social Security, Medicare and Medicaid, taxing the rich and the minimum wage and also on certain social issues such as gay marriage and marijuana legalization. The reason as to why I added Reaganfan's post to the thread was because he made some valid points pointing out that the conservative policies and ideals that the Republican Party espouses are widely-accepted in most of the country.

True, but a lot fewer than if you were to make a list of exceptions for the statement that America is a pretty much Democratic country.

Is it? I'd say it's pretty even, hence why elections are pretty even.

Democrats have the edge Presidentially. Republicans have a bigger edge in midterms. Issues wise, the country IIRC leans more towards the Democrats POV than the Republican POV.

So it's evenish IMO.
