Bushie's updates on his job are always great for their optimism with ironic sense of impending doom.

The update is like if Oscar Wilde wrote a parody of an Horatio Alger novel.

You're not being cute, BRTD. Cut it out. This is akin to arguing that you'd cheerfully sign up for fighting in the trenches on the Western Front for the chance to see the beautiful French countryside.

Cultivating a confirmation bias on purpose is really, really unseemly and absolutely pointlessly limiting.

BRTD's life could, with minimal changes, be written as a dark satire on the life of a modern liberal.

I like how so many of us can come together and agree that the forum is terrible at discussing religion, regardless of what sort of discussion it is that we'd prefer.
In this forum's defence, I think most places are bad at discussing religion.
This is true because there's nothing substantive to be said about it. There are no data points to consider and no evidence to weigh. Any religious discussion, by definition, is just a tedious back and forth on semantics, feelings, and navel gazing, with a heavy tribal sociological component.

...any legal system where rich people are able to buy more/better legal representation than poor people is incompatible with most basic ideas of liberal democracy.

historical experience also shows us that whites and men of all economic strata can come together, and do come together literally all the time, to trample on minorities and women.

Obama should make a trollish remark about being glad to be back in his native land or something like that, just to make the birthers foam.

WHERE IS SCOTT WALKER'S BIRTH CERTIFICATE?!?!?!?!!1!!11!!111!!!!!

I still haven't been shown one shred of evidence that Hillary Clinton is not liberal. The narrative is entirely built around (1) her voting for the Iraq War, which other famous Dems like Biden, Kerry, Schumer, and Edwards did as well without criticism and (2) her accepting donations from Wall Street, which Obama and near every Democrat does in some form.

There's not one political position she holds that you can bring up and say, wow, that's from the Republican platform.

Bushie is a thief.  Continually wasting people's time and money.  He tries to put on some old fashioned bull$hit act, but people back then, in popular imagination at least, had integrity.  The ideal was to do as you say and say as you do.  You cost this company money and provided no value. You stole your paycheck, congrats. At least bilk, something like an insurance company for paid training next time.

LOL.  Yeah, Reagan, Bush 41 and even Bush 43 for that matter look like downright liberals compared to people like Ted Cruz.

For once, BRTD totally nails it.

If amount of government spending is the primary metric by which policies should be measured in accordance to how left/right wing they are, then Reagan and George W. Bush were some of the most left-wing Presidents in US history.

Well, not quite since he is shooting down a strawman. No one had argued that it was a primary metric or anything close, just a crude rule of thumb (and with a caveat for defence spending etc.).

So true, but a bit irrelevant.

I haven't been following the discussion, so I wasn't commenting on a relevancy. Still, a true statement is true regardless of its relevancy to a specific discussion.

The existence of update fans is the most frustrating thing ever.

And all of them should consider the likelihood that Bushie's decision to quit was at least partially influenced by what would attract the most attention here.

The thing is... you are very, very American. Even your complaints about America are strikingly American. I doubt you would be happy anywhere else.
Well no sh**t, Americans complain about everything and take everything good for granted. Including myself.

Rioting over the loss of a basketball game is more socially acceptable than rioting over systemic institutional racism.

Truer words have seldom been spoken:

Golden rule of politics: If old men oppose something and young women support it, it's the right thing to do.

Why do appeasement never work?

Because if it work it's not appeasement.
