The ghost of Reagan runs for a third term every four years already.

It's amazing that there are people who actually think people on terrorist watch lists should be allowed to buy guns

Not only applies to that thread, but to the 2016 subforum as a whole:

I can tell you how this thread is going to go.

Three or four snarky comments in support of Hillary Clinton. Three or four snarky comments against Hillary Clinton.

Greece has been in an economic depression for years now, and they stuck with the EU.

When will they recover, 50-100 years?

15 000 Euros lands you a flat in Thessaloniki, think about that and how much mama Merkel helped them.

Blaming the EU on the Greek depression makes this fit for a very different thread.

Wow, Sanders says in no uncertain terms that he will be voting for Clinton, and some folks still feel the need to bash him. Sad!

I don't want to make any personal attacks, which was my inclination when I opened this thread, so I'll just say that this is deeply repulsive.

The biggest fallacy of this election is that "ordinary Americans" are some white people living in some small town in Kentucky or Maine or Kansas.

This also goes for the past two elections, at least...

I don't come to a forum dedicated to politics to read posts that sound like they've been ripped from Yahoo News

Post something substantive or screw off

And yet, that's what every college freshman does orientation week - use a map to get around.  I get that it's exaggeration, but the whole "youth know nothing!!!!" shtick is a bit tiresome.

I haven't been paying much attention to this, but I'll just throw in that Ronaldo is such a little sh**t.

This can not be said enough, imo.

I mean, Rubio was only propped by the media and the Republican establishment (and only has a chance at retaining his seat at all this year) because he's a young, relatively good-looking Hispanic guy who's good at regurgitating GOP one-liners.  He's literally the Republican affirmative action candidate - only "qualified" by virtue of him not being old and white.

If it weren't for those 30-second speeches, poor Chico would've been put on the Republicans' deportation list a looong time ago.
So he's the Republican Obama. It worked for the Democrats.

Haha.  No.  He's the Republican version of what Republicans perceive Obama to be.

Why not, considering that it is just not true? Don't let RINO Tom fool you with his posturing - Obama won the college-educated vote both times. Everyone wants to pretend like their side is "smarter" - as in most issues (climate change, voter suppression, etc.), actual statistics back up our side.
RINO Tom desperately clings to this romantic notion that the GOP is a bourgeois party primarily made up of North Shore Episcopalians and their counterparts around the country, when the party's footsoldiers have long been white Evangelicals and the culturally conservative working-class, who he sees as Jesus freaks and racists who belong in the Democratic Party.

There's a lot of racism in West Virginia. I don't know why that was ever a controversial statement.

That doesn't mean that classism is OK, though.

Thank you!

How is criticizing racist West Virginians classist? Not every West Virginian is a working class white coal miner, lol.

A good chunk of your comments about West Virginia come off as very thinly veiled classism. Seems like a very poor attempt at dog whistle politics. Take notes from guys who talk about "State's rights" and "Welfare queens".

I finally finished the last season of Girls (which is basically the most Millennial show ever) and I can not imagine any character on that show caring the slightest about their ethnic heritage and traditions. They're the very epitome of "rootless cosmopolitan".

Girls is a Millennial show in the sense that all Millennials are exclusively affluent New Yorkers who want to find themselves and explore their art with their pretentious self absorbed Brooklynite friends. Because the charmed experiences of an Upper East Side socialite who has been fawmed over in NY media circles since she was a child and has admitted to some odd sexual experiences involving her younger sister are pretty universal to people my age.

Julian Assange may bury her yet.

When all your remaining hope remains with a pasty weirdo who literally hasn't left a building in four years because the cops are waiting outside to arrest him for rape, you might just be grasping at straws at this point.
