Isn't that more a facet of Australian political culture rather than the electoral system itself (ie Margaret Thatcher would likely have been out by 1981 in Australia).

You make a compelling case for Australian political culture.

Never thought I'd be quoting MasterJedi here, but I actually lol'd at this a bit:

Trump at the RNC "We can't use violence".

Trump on Twitter during the DNC "I wanted to punch that guy so hard, I'd punch him so hard he couldn't get up, I'd punch him".

More evidence that there is simply a right and wrong choice this election. There is no excuse for this. There is no excuse for defending it, either.

Name one "really smart person" that has gone on record with this nonsense. None have.

Um, do you realize that the OP is parodying Trump's style of floating conspiracy theories?
No. Nor should I. This post is not based in reality and should be pulled.

I don't have time to pull 1438 posts.

Upper-Middle class twentysomethinhs in a developing country always have the worst opinions.

(Of course, the effect of their triumphant overthrow of Dilma was the installation of a cronyistic coalition puppeted by Big Ag and evangelicals, but yeah congrats you really showed those stooppid poor people who selfishly wanted enough to educate their children rather than sending them to work)

I was extremely non-disappointed when the ad that came up before the video was for investing in gold. I swear, it is like this election was designed to validate at least 90% of the impression I already had of the hard right in this country.

You people have constructed a fascinating, albeit terrifying, alternate reality to live in.

Context:

It's tough for me to have any sympathy for him.  If he had come out after the murder and showed remorse and stayed quiet and just tried to live his life and all the sudden now I heard about him being punched... I might have sympathy.

But in the reality of it, I do not.

This probably is an indication that the #DumpTrump initiative in the RNC is catching fire and getting some serious support.  By first teasing that he won't, and now endorsing Ryan, Trump wants to dampen that initiative and to keep the candle lit, at both ends.  Unfortunately even kids have figured out his MO by now, so it is unlikely to stop the movement to replace him.

Trump is like that one really big tool in high school who acts like he knows everything about anything but still doesn't understand how women can pee.

"Values voters" don't care about extramarital affairs, inactive church attendance, or lack of charitable giving. Such self-identified voters want right wing social policies enacted and don't care if their candidate is as personally decedent as a Borgia.

My money is on Trump +5. I wonder what would be enough to make the Clinton campaign go crazy and invest in TX?

lol, the Clinton campaign does not give a sh*t about public polls. Only amateur hour campaigns do (cough)

The point is that these people have committed serious offenses that have led to them losing some of the rights that people are normally accorded. It's not meant to be a walk in the park.

Just because they are prisoners doesn't mean it's OK to treat them like dirt. Time and time again, I see issues of mistreatment or other bs regarding prisoners come up and again see certain folks just shrug it off and say "well they are prisoners after all!", as if that justifies anything and everything.

This is why recidivism is such a problem in America. Many people have such a cavalier attitude towards convicts/felons, as if they are sub-human or something.

Dear lord, how can anyone call Mitt Romney, Marco Rubio or John Kasich RINOs but then go on and say that Trump is a true conservative?

Because for some people on the right the measure of how conservative someone is is defined by how willing they are to openly display hatred for President Obama. Trump wins that in a rout.

It is rather annoying the implication that because one is white and working-class, it gives them some kind of justifiable, understandable reason to be a racist idiot.

I just wish that I heard a little more English on the bus.  It's really annoying because I don't know what they're saying, and for some reason, hearing a person yell and scream in a foreign language for ten whole minutes really gets on my nerves.

People like you are why I do not speak English on the bus.

As my West Virginian Democrat neighbor put it, for the last eight years, all he ever heard from all our idiot neighbors was "n****r this, and n****r that." For the next eight years they'll just switch to "b***h this, b****h that."

I'm only saying this because I don't hate you: You are acting like a complete idiot, and you better get out now and/or remedy this. I can't believe you are going about such an immoral action that hurts people so casually - like nothing I've ever seen. I am going to assume any actions have not been undertaken, and I do not want to find out if there is follow through please.

Also, if the burkini as such a manifestation of Islamic oppression to women, why has it suddenly become so popular among non-Muslim women worldwide? And don't f**king say "the patriarchy."

This is a good example of how 'patriarchy' has been misused to the point of meaninglessness. Putting frat boys and guys who won't let their daughters be educated together in the same box as if they have the same worldview is ridiculous.

This is like somebody saying the word 'precipitation' is meaningless because snow and rain are different

I dispute the analogy. There are sufficient differences in worldview between male dominated libertines and actual patriarchs to indicate they are different ideologies. Put another way, Barack Obama and Rosa Luxemberg might agree on two or three things and they are both opposed by the right, but calling them both socialists is just silly.

The social justice left has constructed a perfect bogeyman for themselves. They have defined "patriarchy" in such broad terms that they can identify almost any aspect of any culture as being resultant of the patriarchy, with little hope of escape from this evil god. The problem is that it is not a useful way of breaking down the world.
