Yankee has legal ownership of my vote until the end of time. I lost it in a bet with him during a card game.

So,

Yankee. Also, am I the only one who's surprised that the self-described socialist is the one that is polling the best against him?

I would really dread the thought of a Senate without Yankee, the man is the Senate!

Yelnoc: 46%
Yankee: 46%
Undecided: 8%

X: 25%
Yankee: 58%
Undecided 17%

Seems like the race has the potential to be competitive.

I used to hold that opinion for no particular reason, but it's become clear that others are more than capable of doing Yankee's old grunt work, particularly after the rules revision, so I'm not sure what this means.

Well, many of us have never seen a Senate without Good Ol' Yank Tongue

Yes, other Senators can run the Senate without major problems, Bore, TNF and I did so over the past few months. My point is that Yankee has been in the Senate longer than anybody (over half the Senate's history, I believe), and he has some unique experience that along with his strong sense of duty make him a symbol of stability, continuance and so on. (Not to mention that he has been the unofficial Senate leader for the center right for a very long time)

Should he leave at some point, his absence will be very strongly noted.

That was the case before as well. Hell BK and bgwah were better than I was. The notion came about for the sheer length of time I held the position of PPT stretching from right after dissolution (Marokai's disappearence) until last summer and thus you had to go back to pre-dissolution to find a non-Yankee Senate administrator (save for VPs whose increased involvement was something I not only only encouraged but aggressively pushed by the way). It looked a bit like the back and forth between Martin and Rayburn pre-dissolution. It was thankless and difficult and I was willing to relieve others of the bother, but it came at this price and served to be the undoing for an OSPR that dated back to the mid 2000s. I should have let Franzl have it in late 2012, but my damn sense of obligation to work down the queue backlog insisted I stay. Tongue
