A ten-episode (each episode being 11 minutes long) animated fantasy series about two brothers lost in a forest, and it's really brilliant. The AV Club actually gave it an A+ before reversing it to an A (the former being against their rules now). I watched the entire series in the span of two hours here.

I've been meaning to watch this for a while now.

Don't we already have a thread on it somewhere, though? I could swear afleitch or somebody had made one.

Yeah I did. It really is worth the praise that's being heaped upon it and it's got some touches of Miyazawa funnily enough (which I read, completely unconnected, after I watched the series) Each episode builds and builds onto the best wrap up of an animated series I think I've ever seen.

It's not 'dark' (even though it is); it's sepia. It has great call outs to very, very old animation as well as American folk tradition. It's ultimately for kids first and foremost, even though it deals with matters that children should be told about (and for some reason is sadly missing in children's narration) but I was happy to be lost in it. Twice now Smiley

PBS Idea Channel did a thing on it and it got me interested, but I've never gotten around to watching it.

And that's a rock fact. Wink
