This should make Tuesday quite amusing to watch! Seeing as challengers have actually declared, at least the "coup" won't fizzle out like in did in 2013.

The moderate bench would sooner vote for Pelosi instead of voting for Gohmert.

Guys, next two years is gridlock anyway. Gohmert wouldn't have any consequences and be hilarious.

Hard conservatives always insist that they can govern best, so why not give one a chance to finally have a position of authority? Let them prove their own delusions wrong on the public stage. And going into 2016, it can't hurt Democrats to have Gohmert as a GOP leader.

There may not even be a Speaker after the Tuesday election. Boehner barely won the necessary support back in 2013 by like 2 votes (even though he was basically unopposed), and now all the Gohmert-Scalise Caucus needs is 30 Republican votes to block Boehner which should be easy.

But could you guys imagine? Louie Gohmert and a white supremacist leading the GOP Majority in the House lmao.

It will be a surprise if he gets ten percent support.

Why doesn't Massie run instead? He actually seems like a viable candidate for Speaker.

If Gohmert actually becomes speaker, it will be a turning point. Nobody even slightly sane will have any excuse for continuing to remain a Republican.

Massie is after a Senate seat I think. Yea, Speaker of the House is nice, but it is also a longshot. Why challenge the establishment when he will need their help and backing in 6 years to take McConnell's seat assuming he retires (or in 2.5 years if Rand runs for President maybe). Kentucky is far from safe R (though a Presidential electorate may actually help) so support will be needed and not just Rand Paul's.

Voting for an alternative candidate is one thing, but being a martyr like Gohmert or as Bachmann tried to do when she attempted to infiltrate the leadership will make you a pariah.

Speaker votes don't operate on a primary system.
