Well you did mount the dragon Grin

I was hoping to buy you off with Lannister gold but was too slow

haha! and you think the noble House Velaryon would bow to your vile Lannister pelf and threats? ahem.

Well not thinking so much as hoping ;}

Brilliant lyrics, Leonardo, I hope your uncle recovers soon!

I have two questions:

1) Do we post our entries for "The North Remembers" contest publicly or PM them to Lumine?

2) Is it permissible for me to post a POV that takes place after the first battle at Harrenhall but before the second?

It's okay to post the entries here, and yes, such a POV is permissible as long as it doesn't affect the outcome or change what was posted.

I'm sorry guys, but I will have to stop playing with the end of this turn (so now). I just don't find the time to play the game anymore, and you deserve a player that is active. It was great fun, and I wish you all the best with the game, keep a good eye on my Dorne! Wink

Sad to hear that you're leaving Cranberry, and thanks a lot for playing!

Dorne is now available along with Daenerys in case anyone's interested.

have been drawing inspiration from Black Sails

If Flint, Vane, Rackham et al can survive monumental cock-up disasters and come out stronger, so can the Lord of the Waters

Until we get a player for Doran, would it be alright if I assume command over his armies - since they're playing such an important role in the game?

Yeah I think you're already guaranteed that support through marriage with Arianne.

Objection m'lud! I got legitimised by Aegon last turn; I'm Aurane Velaryon now and 'd like the wee legit boost for which I paid so dearly...

A legitimization that is very much disputed.

And I'd bet you DID get a legitimacy boost, you just lost more by losing the main factors propping up your regency, namely your fleet and your lord.

Oh. Well I was still called Aurane Waters in the narrative (and the Sand Snakes remained Sandy too) so I just wondered if there hadn't been a mistake...

I'd wager Lumine forgot to update Aurane's name. But as far as I know the Sand Snakes have not been legitimized...

Right, my mistake considering I gave Jon Snow the Stark name following Stannis's legitimization. Aurane will be updated as being a Velaryon, and from now on the Sand Snakes will be mentioned as being Martells (expect perhaps in POV's, as many might not recognize the legality of said action).

Objectively speaking the turns should last less than a week, but if I am to be honest between college, some issues of mine and the fact that I have a serious cold it is hard for me to keep with a schedule as I should be doing.

I am not abandoning this game and I remain resolved to moderating it until the end, but I don't want to keep giving dates because I fear I won't be able to meet them, xD

Badgate entry: "The North Remembers" song

A cold wind rose

Upon the moor

A faint and

Distant warning

The leaves, they sing

They're humming...

Winter is coming.

With clenching jaw

And battered steel

The king fought for

His country

A savage path

Of false men kneel

Their feet cut

From their body.

The Old Gods rose,

And Bolton saw...

The cost of breaking ancient law.

The Young Wolf lost,

The North was dark,

But winter

Brought a Stark.

And winter rose,

For now there dwell,

A Stark in

Winterfell.

The brother wolf

Rose from the embers...

The north remembers.

I wanted to write a long version of my song that really tells the story like Rains of Castemere does, so here it is...

Badgate entry: "The North Remembers" song EXTENDED BARD EDITION

A cold wind rose
Upon the moor
A faint and
Distant warning

The leaves, they sing
They're humming...
Winter is coming.

The son of Stark
Took up the sword;
King Robb, King in
The North.

And Five Kings fought,
For family,
Each side a cause
for naught.

The north men ruled
The Trident then,
For vengeance for
Their kin.

The grey wolf howl
Would shake the rivers...
The north remembers.

Betrayal came
A wedding game,
The king bled at
The bedding.

His ancient foe,
The Bolton man
The leech took on
Command.

And winter came,
The winds would blow...
The brother wolf then rose from Snow.

The wolf and stag
Then dance again,
Bringing justice to
The land.

With clenching jaw
And battered steel
The king fought for
His country.

A savage path
Of false men kneel
Their feet cut
From their body.

The Old Gods rose,
And Bolton saw...
The cost of breaking ancient law.

The Young Wolf lost,
The North was dark,
But winter
Brought a Stark.

And winter came,
For now there dwell,
A Stark in
Winterfell.

The brother wolf
Rose from the embers...
The north remembers.

I believe Lumine is preparing one as well.

There will be two extra chapters, but I've been struggling with them while being buried in Medieval History books (oh, the irony...).

I have to say, if it wasn't such a self-serving act I would cede the entire POV section to Badgate, he has written truly brilliant chapters, xD

I'd be glad to do a PoV if there are any more going, this round or in the future...

Glad to catch up with the adventures of my wayward bride!

Reek's chapter was the easy one, but Bran's one continues to be headache because it would give away some ideas I have... So I'll end the torture, we'll stay with the current POV's and I'll accept player moves until Tuesday at midnight, at which point I will write the end of the turn, announce the "The North Remembers" winner and make a few changes to the game as we move forward so we can avoid further delays.

A disillusioned Northman's song

Waken before dawnin' to a new-mint whetstone hiss
Stare about a courtyard stinks o' treason and o' piss
See the Warden ridin' past, raise cheers to chase his eyen
Aye, cheer him till you're ragged, 'tis the Bolton's grand design.

Garrons neighin', stallions few,
Syne the Flayed Man took his due,
Stag and Lion floatin', makin' for a pretty view.
Keep your wife a dumbshow, smack your daughter for a sigh,
For fear woman's wailin', Northmen, as the Bastards 'gin to vie.

Watchmen at their wit's end, antlers mid the trees,
Clansmen, sellswords, wildlings, drainin' wassails to the lees,
But mind your oaths, true northmen, think o' boons you owe the throne,
And vows you owed to yesterday's, the boy-king scorned to bone.

When the Red Woman comes fetchin', well, you needn't fear to bow,
Stark's bastard kept the groves white, and they call him Lord Stark now,
When the Boltons came for their price, came to settle then dismember,
Aye, it seems the Leech Lords they forgot what Northmen might remember.

But if stags they demand swearin', mind that they be southron still,
And know nothing of the winter, of our harvest and our chill,
That they'd have the Wall for castles, and take wildling whores for wives,
And they can't know any better, as they charge away their lives -

Escalades and atteints, minin' and blockades,
Snowstorms and edged icicles to shatter men to maids
King or warden, know that you are garnered here to die
So hold the land, bold Northmen, as the Bastards mean to try!

Veer away the stories, curse away your fears
Of some peril left unsleepin', aye, well covert under jeers
Drink your blood when snow runs dry to hammer stone walls down
And fear not that without them your own childer may yet drown

Tallharts stood amid the sedge
Hornwood vengeance 'long the ledge
Every Cerwyn bears his edge
Mustered under Dreadfort's sky -
Cry, the North Remembers!

But remembers what? And why?

Right, no more answers to be accepted. I'll be taking a trip starting today, so depending on my internet access I should be able to end the turn and start the next one in the next days.
