I've been told by most people that my singing is about average, and some even think that it is above average, so option 2 gets my vote.

How about you guys?

I actually am a fairly decent singer.  I never had any formal training.  But I do learn by ear, and also got a few pointers from good singers.  Well, there are lots of singers better than me in any given room.  But I've played guitar and sang lead in front of crowds, and no one has thrown anything or chased me off the stage yet...

I sing in the church choir and occasionally with the chorus of a suburban symphony orchestra. I had no voice training, but I spent many years of my youth playing trumpet/bugle and developing an ear for music as well as the skill to sight read parts. I enjoyed it enough to take a couple of years of music theory and orchestration in college. I got going in voice almost 20 years ago when my church choir lacked a tenor.

I've never heard myself, but I'm told I can carry a tune... but I don't think I should be quitting my day job.

I've been told I'm pretty woeful when it comes to singing, but it doesn't sound terrible to my ears Tongue

No, I'm a terrible singer.  I've had my music perception abilities tested, so I know they're pretty good, and I was a decent trombonist, but I can't sing for the life of me.  It doesn't help me that I have no absolute pitch abilities whatsoever.

I've been told I have a good voice for it, but I don't do much singing beyond the shower curtain and on lone walks up the hill.

Depends on what you consider a "good singer", but I've been told a few times that I am.
