Could Sittenfield transfer the money he's raised to a re-election bid (if he has an election coming up)?

I doubt that's allowed, but it might be.

Also, glad to hear Strickland is running. Sittenfeld should remain in exclusively LeBron's heart and not try a suicide this early in his career.

Losing a primary 3-1 is a good career move? I fail to see that logic.

Dems got excellent chances in IL, OH, WI, Pa and MO for a 51-49 majority.

That's because Sittenfeld WILL WIN!

Strickland is a Bob Casey Democrat, pro second amendment, but a progressive on everything else and win one more election.

Thank god. The seat is still tilt/lean R but Strickland gives us a fighting chance for the seat.

Casey's claim to fame is being pro-life, not pro-gun (though he is both).

Adam, it seems like you have the worst luck in politics. Enthusiastically backing the biggest implosion of the 2014 election cycle, and now enthusiastically backing a guy who probably would've been the nominee if Strickland never ran (and just a couple months ago very few people actually expected him to run). What's next, will John Kasich be the next president of the United States? Tongue

This comes as a bit of a shock to Portman supporters who thought they would run the same kind of race as Kasich and win.

The good thing is that if Strickland looses next year, it's water off a duck's back when it comes to the state party (at least bench wise).

Strickland is in. Sittenfeld has told party leaders he'll drop out.

Sooo... thread name change?

Also, that puts an end to one rather strange chapter in Ohio Dem. history.

Endorse Sestak, Kander, Duckworth and Feingold and Bennett for election. Havent decided on Reid.

I'm not an ageist but running a 73 year old candidate for Senate just doesn't sit well with me. He'd probably be one of the oldest freshman Senators ever.

Ed Markey was like 68 when he was elected in 2013. Strickland is in great health, too.

Ted Strickland is probably going to end up as the Tommy Thompson of 2016, an over the hill former governor who is running more as a reflection of their state party's horrible bench and will probably lose by somewhere in the mid single digits

The Ohio Democrats don't really have a horrible bench, though.

Who else do they have? Sittenfield is only known locally, and tim Ryan probably will never leave the house
