The pro-abortion folks say that abortion will happen no matter what, so it ought to remain legal.  Now, by their logic, this stuff should be legal too, since it's going to happen anyway.  So vote on which ones should be legalized.

You can not 'rape' your spouse.

You can not 'rape' your spouse.

Why not? It would seem obvious that your spouse can refuse to consent to sexual relations and then you can have sex with her/him.

NOTA for the record.

Actually, you can.  And in the 1980s or 1990s, a Republican Alabama Senator introduced legislation allowing you to rape your spouse, with the following defense: "Dammit, when you get married, you kind of expect you're going to get a little bit of sex."

If you don't consent, don't get married.

I don't hear that anywhere in the marriage vows...did I miss something?

It's common sense. Anyway, you should at least have the option to put that in the contract.

The guy who talks about 1/5th of an acre being required to vote talks about common sense? What about 0.1999999 acres? Does it count?

Rape is rape, Philip.  Doesn't matter if you're married to the person.

What about a married couple in the process of getting divorced? Should one spouse be allowed to rape the other in these circumstances?

Divorce should be illegal unless both people consent.

And again, I reject the term rape.

It does not seem to be common sense, considering you're the only one that I know of here that holds this opinion.

Make sure to tell your spouse that before you marry. See how they react to your common sense.

What? That we're going to have sex? I don't intend to get married anyway, I imagine most people consider sex to be somewhat implied.

No, he's straight, and against gay marriage, but otherwise I'd marry him.

Sorry, but someone had to say that. Cheesy Cheesy

Thats effectively a form of sex-slavery. I think even Opebo wouldn't favour forcing women to have sex against their volition, and he's got some pretty out-there ideas.

Well, I'm sure sex is expected, but forced? Good luck on the whole  marriage thing under those circumstances.

In general yes, but not necessarily whenever it is demanded by the male partner.

I voted yes on all but the 'rape' options.  I don't however like the word 'molestation', as it implied there is something wrong with a particular kind of sex, sort of like the world fornication.  Also the definition of 'child' is left completely vague and open.  Obviously post-pubescents are not children.

My ideas are always based on personal autonomy.  Prostitution or its more expensive cousin marriage do not imply any right to use force upon the women involved.

Right, and since the "child" word is used, you'd support child sex/porn?  (those <12 years old)

Oh you're one sick puppy, man.

If you don't consent, don't get married.

Scenario - A man has just blown his kid's college fund on a motorcycle. His wife is ing pissed off, and she refuses to sleep with him.

Now, by your logic he should be able to force himself on her whether she wants to or not, and she is not justified for refusing his desire to have sex with her. Do you honestly think this is the case?

Um, getting pushy isn't considering rape.

Forcing your genitalia into someone else when they are unwilling or otherwise unable to make the decision for themself is rape. Pushiness is either pushiness or assault.
