5 Westmorland
3 Gloucestershire
1 Dorset

-3 Somerset

You had a chance to make two 3 round safes - one from each group. Same goes for Al.

The six votes for safes so far are:

The 8 beautiful counties from Country Life:

Devon
Somerset
Dorset

The 12 others:

Sussex
Gloucestershire
Herefordshire

Result of round 8:

Westmorland 8
Dorset 6
Worcestershire 5
(more votes than Shropshire in the previous two rounds - tie in 7, more in 6)
Shropshire 5
Oxfordshire 4
Lancashire 3
Sussex 1
Gloucestershire 0 (3-3)
Northumberland - 3
Devon -3
Somerset - 3
Invalid: Shropshire 1

Bolded ones eliminated. There will be no multi-round safes since we did not agree on any.

Round 9:

Eliminate 3 counties by distributing 7 votes, defend by distributing 5 minus votes. Counties without previous elimination votes can not be defended. Before the round six counties have no elimination votes: Cornwall, Devon, Somerset, Herefordshire, Norfolk, Yorkshire.

Oxfordshire 5
Lancashire 2

Northumberland -3
Cumberland -2

Just to clarify: As soon as someone has given a county elimination points you can defend it, so it is a round where it might pay to wait, but I will close it at the regular time.

Also, to paraphrase Al: "People who voted against Dorset at this point should be taken outside and shot!"

Half an hour left of the round and no votes? What is going on - did you all suddenly get tired of this?

Sorry this isn't getting more votes.

-1 Herefordshire
-1 Oxfordshire
-2 Sussex
-1 Cumberland

Somerset -4
Cornwall -1
Yorkshire -2

Impossible to interpret this. It was 7 elimination votes and 5 defensive minus votes (and those were only possible to give to counties with previous votes).

This is only a legit vote if you meant to eliminate Somerset, Cornwall and Yorkshire and since you have defended Somerset before and live in Yorkshire (IIRC) I take it that that is not the case.

I get what you mean now, but it is still not correct. In survivors you vote to eliminate, so elimination votes are positive and defensive votes are negative, which can feel a bit backwards at first.

Rounds closed.

Result of round 9:

Oxfordshire 10
Sussex 5
Herefordshire 4

Lancashire 2
Norfolk 1
Cumberland -1 (1-2)
Northumberland -3

Bolded ones eliminated.

Setting a restriction for the use of defensive votes seems to be too complicated. You both broke the rule, but Gully did it after CrabCakes wrong vote, so by no fault of his own. I will disregard all invalid votes when/if breaking ties in the next round.

Round closed. Only two votes, but waiting for a third wont change the elimination result.

Result of round 11:

Shropshire and Durham are out.

Cornwall 8
Somerset 7

Cumberland 3
Devon 1

Bolded ones eliminated

No additional votes for a direct semifinalist, so that race and the quarterfinal gets cancelled and we move straight to the semifinal and eliminate two of the remaining four counties.

Semifinal:

Vote to eliminate two counties by voting 3, 1

Devon 3
Cumberland 1

Since we are entering the finals I will keep it open for 48 hours or until all five previous voters have voted.
