Who will Republicans put up against Elizabeth Warren? I have a feeling that a businessman type and that Wall Street and the Koch Brothers would dump a ton of money into defeating her.

I think it would be quite wise to just ignore that seat. Scott Brown could've won in the right climate especially if Hillary won. North Dakota, Montana, Missouri, Indiana, Florida, Ohio, maybe Virginia. Why spread ourselves too think especially if we are approaching supermajority numbers (assuming we knock out Reid and lose only Johnson and Kirk - I'm optimistic on Toomey, Burr, Portman, Ayotte, and Rubio. Toomey could get knocked out but let's hold off on that).

If the GOP won all 7, that'd be a supermajority. Honestly, I only expect 5 max and 4 likely, but just compete where you have the best chances.

It will be interesting to see if Republicans try to contest this seat. Still, it's likely a lost cause. MA seems to be a state that distinguishes pretty clearly between their statewide office holders and their federal office holders, and Warren is a great fundraiser that could easily match dollar for dollar whatever the Kochs pour in.

That being said, a good candidate "to get the dems to spend some money here" would be Fmr. Gov. William Weld.

In a presidential, there will be almost no chance to win that seat.  The only way a republican has a chance to break even 40% is if she's not running and the Democrats' choice isn't exactly a good one.  Other than that, forget it.

Warren wins easily. I'd say with over 60% of vote. Republican's only hope of making this race competitive is by having Charlie Baker run, but that won't happen. He'll run for reelection for MA Governor

Warren will win.  The only chance the GOP has is when a seat is open.  It's just about impossible for the GOP to topple a Dem incumbent in a MA-SEN race, especially in a non-midterm year.

2018 is a midterm, but otherwise, yes.

This.  Baker would probably be our best bet, but I suspect he'll go for reelection (which I would prefer.)

I doubt that Charlie Baker will run for Senate against Elizabeth Warren in 2018 as well, though he might run against Ed Markey in 2020 and could be competitive against him.

It would be his second try but for a different senate seat.

He's also run before in MA.

If Warren retires, I guess Kennedy or Moulton would run?

What would the situation be had Coakley-D won the 2009 Special election instead of the Pickup Truck Driver? Coakley-D would have won the 2012 US Senate Race for a full first term due to Obama coattails.
Warren would have to hope that  Governor Deval Patrick appoints her to Kerry's vacant US Senate Seat. Markey-D would remain in the US House.
Warren's 2018 sacrificial lamb Republican challenger is likely to be Mitt Romney.

Romney doesn't even live in MA anymore, he's shifted his primary residency to Utah.

Baker has disowned the national GOP. It's really hard to imagine him going that route against the Dem current. Honestly his best next move is into a future Republican Cabinet.

Bill Weld found out the hard way back in '96, just two years after being re-elected to a second term as governor by a landslide.  Assuming Baker is popular, he should take note.
