  • Ratatouille (this is basically the culinary equivalent of electricity and water for me).
  • Beetroot, except grated onto a salad or in a burger.
  • Avocado on its own, I do like it on a sandwich, in a salad, and as a part of guacamole though.
  • Shrimp/prawns, except on pizza, or curried king prawns.
  • Scallops (make me gag)

I do love a lot of food though (I like the likes of liver, phall curry and black pudding, for example), and do enjoy the vast majority of fruit and vegetables, so I'm hardly a picky eater.

Macaroni and cheese

it's just ... slimy

If you're referring to the instant macaroni and cheese Kraft sells in boxes, I agree with you, but real macaroni and cheese is one of the greatest foods of all time.

No, even the homemade stuff. Everyone I know basically treats it like crack, and I can barely stomach a mouthful.

The one food I hate more than any other I can possibly think of is sauerkraut. I hate it with a passion that I cannot describe. The smell alone makes me nauseous. I won't even eat food it touches.

I used to be a very picky eater, although that has moderated over time. Other foods I particularly don't like: Swiss cheese, ribs, chicken thighs (basically any dark meat), sweet potatoes, and squash/zucchini. I've also recently developed an aversion to store-bought cake frosting.

Avocado on its own, I do like it on a sandwich, in a salad, and as a part of guacamole though.

Do people even really eat avocado outside those contexts anyway?

I eat it with pita chips sometimes.

I love avocado, and yes, I'm someone that eats it plain (though preferably with other foods). Other members of my family also eat it plain, to the point where we might actually fight for it. I highly recommend it on a burger. Smiley

I also hate Swiss Cheese when not melted and mixed in with something.

As for saukerkraut, that's a taste I only recently acquired and it's more of a texture balancer anyway.

@Maddy: Yup, I guess it's more of a Californian thing.

Well, on second thought, you could add certain types of sushi to that list, but I've never known anybody to just eat avocado straight-up. Interesting.

Yes. I know such people.

And no, I'm not one of them. Can't stand avocado.

I'm not too fond of avocado on toast either - even with an egg, starts to make me gag.

I'm vegan these days, so I'll restrict my list accordingly:
- Mushrooms
- Mock meats
- Beetroot (especially in juice)

Yeah, I've never seen much point in mock meat.  There isn't anything so uniquely great about the texture of meat that I'd want a vegetarian chemical concoction as a replacement.  Fruits and vegetables are quite capable of providing enough diversity of tastes and textures to provide an interesting diet, and I say that as someone who isn't a vegetarian.

I've actually come to the realisation recently that quorn sausages are actually just as nice - if not indistinguishable - from the sausages I was buying before.

There are people who dislike White Chocolate? Human beings baffle me.

White chocolate is usually pretty awful. There's a lot of terrible milk chocolate too. Most good chocoate is >60% cacao.

Reese's peanut butter cups (there is not a more disgusting delicious mixture ever conceived than chocolate and peanut butter)

I'm not certain I'd call the overly sweet filling of a Reese's cup by the name of peanut butter.
