There's also a ballot measure set to be on Ohio's 2015 ballot that, that thread doesn't mention.

The Ohio General Assembly passed a legislative referral to amend the state constitution in regards to redistricting reform, and we'll be voting on it in November. Basically, what it will do if passed is it changes how the state lines are constructed. The Apportionment Board will go from 5 to 7 and will keep the Gov, SoS, and Auditor, and two legislators (1 from majority party, 1 from minority), and this would add another two legislators to the board (again 1 majority, 1 minority), and any redistricting proposal can't pass in the long-term without the support of at least two from the minority party.

Of course, I'll be voting in favor of this. It would give Ohio Democrats a fair chance at winning back control of the Assembly in the future and there would be no more of this awful gene-splicing of counties and municipalities.

For the record, this was passed in bipartisan fashion. Only a few legislators in the whole Assembly voted against it, but Ohio voters have a horrible track history of rejecting redistricting reform at the polls, so I'm a tad concerned our state will screw this up again.
