I'm definitely a straight American male. I'm Jewish, so one is right out. I typically self-identify as white (and voted 4), and I'm "Census white", but there are certainly some who would not consider me white, and I definitely count as a "visible minority" in my community, so that one's sorta debatable.

I'm very unconvinced of the Christian thing the more I think about it. Given that you are white, male, straight and Western do you really need to be Christian? The type of underprivileged non-Christians would typically miss at least one other category anyway.

I'd say income is more of an indicator of privilege than religion.

Being a Christian makes you privileged in the US but it's a negative in many countries in the world (mildly so in Sweden, severely so in most of the Middle East).

Wow, Sweden really does sound amazing sometimes.  Nice to see that my Scandanavian brethren give those nasty Christians what-for.

I'm a 4, btw.

You clearly aren't familiar with the Church of Sweden if you think they are "nasty Christians".

3, but in reality 4 since it is hard to argue Danes are less privileged than Americans.

To be fair, I'm pretty sure when he said "I'm American" it was just a shorthand way of saying "I live in a developed Western country." If he was speaking in Canada, Australia or Austria the point and what he said wouldn't be much different.

This chart is probably a more accurate gauge:

Not a bad chart but the income bracket is kind of clunky since it's missing tons of numbers, I don't fit anywhere there because I make between $30k and $45k a year for example.

Why is Jewish more privileged than Christian on the chart? The 'country' part definitely has too-broad categories (the distinctions between Europe top/meh/sh**t are really vague and seem a little spurious; having South Africa and the CAR be in the same category is ridiculous, as is having Israel and Syria in the same category), while 'status' has random gaps; the different categories of 'height' are only defined vaguely, and some of the 'profession' parts seem totally random (why is scientist -15? why can't a CEO or lawyer be something other than 0?).

Adding it all up gave me +180, so I'm pretty sure I should check my privilege and refrain from criticizing the chart. But so many parts of it just don't make sense...

The chart isn't without its flaws (nothing from 4chan is), but I think that the overall assessment is generally accurate.

I'm white, male, and American. That obviously means that capitalism privileges me in certain ways that it doesn't people of color and women, and I'm aware of that. But I also work two jobs, make less than $25K a year, and spend literally every dollar I make in order to survive, so you'll forgive me if I have a problem with all this liberal 'privilege theory' bullsh**t. Capitalism obviously colors our experience of it based on where we are within the overall society (and for a good reason - workers are told to hate one another based on their race, to degrade women, to be homophobic, to hate transgendered people, etc) and there are special oppressions faced by particular groups of people that have to be rooted out and destroyed, but they cannot be destroyed by 'privilege checking' or individual behavior adjustment. They can only be destroyed by destroying the root cause of them all, which is, of course, class society.

Despite not being a socialist or anything near that, I actually more or less agree with this Tongue

This chart is probably a more accurate gauge:

Let's see:
"Other" -100 (unless we add white + Asian = +35, or average them = 17.5)
Male +25
Gay - 150
Cisgender +20
USA +20
Other religion Huh Averaging Hindu + Christian = -7.5
Affluent +10
Attractive face I guess? +10
Able-bodied +25
Other Profession 0
Tall +10
I don't understand Bonus? Huh

I'm either -157.5, -140.2, or -122.7 according to this chart, which is pretty damn ridiculous

3/5 it seems.

Thankfully, Norwegian leftists, for all their faults, aren't nearly as obsessed with this privilege stuff as Americans are. Tongue

Because we're the best, obviously. I'm sure they are counting observant Jews, who suffer under an extremely oppressive system of rules for just about everything in life. I don't think people who aren't familiar with the black hat and wig crowd often know how intense it is.

Social class and overall level of "privilege" really is a lot more complicated in real life than either side (Tumblr SJWs vs the anti-SJWs) make it out to be. A lot depends on the situation and context. But that's not as easy as making some sweeping statements based on what you read on some blog somewhere.
