Assuming he doesn't win the 2016 nomination. I say he should run for senator, considering it being a midterm year, he has a very high chance of winning.

He'd probably win either one since it's a midterm (especially if Hillary is president), but running for re-election would be an easier route.

IIRC Walker has hinted he's not interested in a third term. Regardless, the choice should definitely be guv.

Run for governor again, Governor a 100x more powerful position than Senator.

Walker should seek a third term as Governor in 2018- He will lose to Tammy B if he decides to challenge her in 2018.

Baldwin is about as easily beatable as Johnson is, that race would definitely be a toss-up.

Baldwin only won in 2012 because of Obama's strong performance there and because Thompson, for some odd reason, had no crossover support at all

Walker obviously has some crossover support, and 2018 will probably be a republican wave. He can definitely beat Baldwin. Winning the governorship again is probably easier due to the factor of incumbency and the dems being terrible at WI Gov. Recruitment (You can point to the waves and whatnot, but the fact is that Barrett and Burke were mediocre candidates at best) , but I can easily see Walker winning either office.

Nah, Sean Duffy is enough to beat Tammy B.

With Ron Kind and Sean Duffy likely both in the Senate come 2019, the Badger State will have the best-looking Senate representation out there.

Isn't premature to assume Walker can easily to defeat Baldwin? Baldwin actually campaigns, so it wouldn't be as easy to defeat her as it was Feingold and Walker might not have the approvals to even be viable by then.

Option 2.  Not sure if he would automatically have the advantage over Baldwin.

It's always amusing to see people write off Tammy Baldwin's 2012 victory because they can't handle a strong woman, and can't admit she won on her own merits.

Tammy Baldwin, a lesbian painted as a "far-left radical", fought hard and came from behind to score a 6-point victory against a popular moderate former governor to earn her Senate seat. These people writing off Baldwin as if she is doomed are just hacks.

If 2018 is President Clinton, I think Baldwin should be worried, but she ran a very strong campaign in 2012. It would be one of the seats Dems have to worry about the least.

Governor would obviously be the easier route for him. I think Baldwin would beat him, unless 2018 was as good for Republicans as 2010 and 2014.

He should do neither. He should wait it out until 2020 to run for president again or run for Senate in 2022.

His best chance is to be president, but he's not a good fit for the teacher's union and the Department of education there, he would be better off just stepping out of politics once his term ends in 2018. But governor is the only office he will be good at.

Well, I for one am done assuming that "<insert future midterm year here> surely won't be as bad as 2010/2014". Everyone thought that Democrats learned their lesson from 2010 and that even if Democrats lost again, it wouldn't have been anywhere near as big of a wipeout. Yeah, so much for that.

By putting it that way, I was implying that it was possible that 2018 could be another bad year for Democrats. I meant that I think it would take a year like that for Walker to beat Baldwin.

Should Hilary get elected, she's a superior campaigner when it comes to electing Democrats to Congress and 2018, won't repeat itself like it did in 2014 when it comes to 2010.

I don't know why it needs to be bolded and italicized, but it's wrong. Under Bill Clinton, 1994 happened, and with the terrible map Democrats have in 2018, I see no reason why you think that Hillary is so superior that she could overcome it. Especially because she was the face of the policy that got so many Democrats kicked out over 20 years ago.

Walker will be running for a third term for governor in 2018, in my opinion. He seems like more an executive type than a legislator.
