NFL in Los Angeles Act

1. The Greater Los Angeles Area is hereby granted a waiver from the Pacific Sports Venue Funding Act so that the Pacific Region or interested local governments can fund the construction of a new football field on that area that fulfills all National Football League standards.

2. Temporary tax hikes for the construction of this field, if necessary, may only be approved by a referendum involving the affected taxpayers.

3. This bill shall enter in effect once the National Football League grants an expansion franchise to the Greater Los Angeles Area or authorizes the relocation of an existing franchise to that area.

Can the sponsor of the legislation, Councilor Paleobrazilian, speak to the need for this?

Of course.

Everyone knows how much the NFL wants to go back to LA. The value tag for a NFL franchise in LA would be huge (a second tier NBA franchise in LA is worthy over 2 billion dollars) and there's potential for the creation of thousands of jobs. There's RL interest on relocating the Rams to LA, so perhaps our GM could bring this to the table as well.

Plus, the Pacific Sports Venue Funding Act is extremely burdensome. An NFL franchise in LA could be extremely profitable. If part of the ticket sales and parking fees go to the government to pay for the public investment, the field would be repaid quickly.

If the NFL wants to return to LA so badly surely they can pay for it themselves?

There's no such thing as the NFL in Atlasia.

Since we roughly follow American history up till the last decade or so, yeah we do have a NFL.

There (was) an Atlas Football League, and even an "Atlas Bowl".
