Wouldn't call him the world's greatest film-maker, perhaps, but to call his movies pretentious, or whatever the main charge might be, strikes me as quite bizarre. I've seen Dogville, Manderlay, Antichrist and Nymphomaniac (might be forgetting 1 or 2), and they strike me as very lighthearted and quite humorous in a rather wry-ish way. If you're up for that sort of thing (and as a general rule I am) then you'll be amused by them. If you're not, I guess you'll also miss the joke in Nietzsche.
