I haven't watched any of his films, but he strikes me as a rather despicable human being.
Being a despicable human being doesn't make a man uncapable of making great films. If the poll is about Lars Von Trier as a filmmaker, my opinion is that I found
Breaking the Waves and
Dancer in the Dark exceedingly good. I have mixed opinions on other films (
The Idiots or
Dogville) and I haven't seen others that apparently are more controversial, maybe because I lost interest. If the poll is about Von Trier as human being my answer, from the little I know about his persona, would be "miserable". Maybe because of Björk, who had an argument with him during the making of
Dancer...
