I almost got hit by a car. (Attention whoring)

I had what may have been a near death experience.  I went for a walk outside, got to a busy intersection, and I had the walk signal.  Suddenly, while in the middle of the street, a car (running the red light) was a few feet from me.  I got out of the way just in time (about a couple inches from getting hit), but the car wasn't even slowing down. 

Even though I had the walk signal, I probably should have looked more carefully.  It was a little startling, and I'll be more cautious now, but I'm glad to be alive.

I was taking a trip a few months ago and was almost the first car in a 5-6 car pile up. I swerved into another lane right in time.

Yeah, really glad to hear you're okay man. That's terrifying. Similar thing happened to me when I was crossing the street with a friend a few months ago. I had the right away because I had already started crossing, but an elderly man just rolled right through the street, just barely missing me. I was actually able to pound on the hood of his car whilst yelling at him to watch out. Very scary.

Closest I came to what you're describing was my last semester of college when I was driving to Houston and had to swerve suddenly to avoid a car that was abruptly moving into my lane. My car spun around several times and wound up in a ditch facing the opposite direction. I was on a highway that tends to have a lot of 18-wheeler traffic so for a few seconds I was trying to anticipate the possibility that I was about to be instantly killed.

Great to hear that you are okay. I've never been hit by a car, but I still get nervous sometimes crossing some of the streets in Waltham that don't have traffic lights.

I got hit by a car two years ago, while driving my bike. That was the only occasion I spend a night in hospital (observation).
