Since I am using one at the moment I feel obliged to vote FP. Otherwise not generally a fan of them. I prefer them for countries rater than posters.

When used to commemorate Mechaman, it's obviously a freedom practice.

Used too often, but I can see circumstances where it might be appropriate, the most obvious one being when a respected poster, perish the thought, dies (which hopefully won't happen for a long time obviously).

Meh.  Though people not using an avatar that represents their own location and affiliation is a (very) minor annoyance to me.

Actually, I was only talking about avatars in tribute to another poster (like D-MO, G-OK, D-NY, etc.). I didn't mind yours. Wink

Usually pretty horrible. Although I wonder if my I-MA one I was using  to protest the Opebo lovers counts as one?

I'm against it , except in cases of death of a respected-poster.

I prefer avvies used to represent actual location

(may be dumb question)
