1-Philip - No
2-BRTD - Hard to tell. Probably not, although if he matured, yes.
3-John Dibble - Yes. I disagree with him a lot, but he knows what he's talking about (even if he's usually wrong Tongue)
4-opebo - Never. I'd rather hack my own hand off with a rusty axe.
5-Lunar - Yes. See Dibble, J
6-jfern - No
7-bandit - No. He's not an idiot and he's probably not a bad human being, but he does seem to have some serious problems and I hope he can get some help soon (not meaning that in an insulting way *at all*).
8-Flyers - No idea.
9-Keystone Phil - Unlikely. Wait til the hearing.
10-StatesRights - Probably not... but again I'd wait til the hearing thing.
11-Jake - Unlikely at the moment. If (or when) he moderates some of his more interesting views (even if only in a proffesional capacity) then yes.
12-Al -  I'm not sure if I can trust this guy... how do we know he's not actually Alistair Campbell/Alun Michael/Alan Milburn in disguise and as part of a plot to fool us?*
13-migrendel - No. He's far too dangerous.
14-nclib - yes (see Dibble, J)
15-nickshepDEM - Yes
16-Sam Spade - Yes
17-Harry - Don't know what his views on legal stuff is at all...
18-Ebowed - Yes
19-John Ford - Yes
20-John Engle - No
21-WMS - Yes
22-Lewis Trondheim - Yes
23-KEmperor - Er... I'll wait til the hearing. I have my concerns...
24-Bob - Probably
25-angus - Yes
26-Nym - Yes
27-Ernest - Yes
28-Peter Bell - Yes
29-Mike Naso - DEAR GOD NO!!!!!!!!
30-phknrocket1k - No

*I have actually been accused of that before...

Dude, it pained me to put that in writing, but I had to be honest.  While I agree with some of your views, I think your interpretation of certain key issues is a bit extreme.

Why the hell is everyone voting for John Dibble? You know he probably agrees with me on 90% of the issues, right?

He doesn't support restricting voting rights, doesn't endorse discrimination against homosexuals and has a little thing called "maturity".

I'm always left off these type of questions, and I think that's a good thing. Smiley

I don't really care that i'm not on this one because I would make a poor judge. I have limited knowledge of legal matters and Constitutional Law.

Me too.  So it's quite lucky I got left off it.

Yeah, that's nice. Too bad none of it has anything to do with judicial philosophy.

You're voting to confirm someone who thinks Medicare, Social Security, Medicaid, federal grants, and federal welfare are unconstitutional.

You think the 16th Amendment is Unconstitutional.

Read about how many times the SCOTUS rejected the income tax on the grounds of it being unconstitutional. The 16th was ratified through very questionable means.

Direct taxes, such as those on capital gains, would be unconstitutional prior to the 16th amendment, if paid by the person. Taxes on wages would not, if paid by the employer.

The states ratified it. If a state that didn't really ratify it, was down as having ratified it, that state would obviously speak up.

all the bullsh**t aside, I think you'd make a fine judge.  better than most of those with whom I have greater ideological agreement.  (the relevance of which I still think is somewhat overplayed in the US)

Well, the part about "imagine these guys had legal training, had been nominated to the post and are nonetheless still more or less the same as they are" is of course pure fantasy...which makes this a bit difficult...

1-Philip - Probably not. Might if he matured.
2-BRTD - see above. But knowing me I'd probably be satisfied with a little less in maturity from him.
3-John Dibble - Probably yes. Unless I'm voting party line. Smiley
4-opebo - Probably yes. Can't do much harm on a judicial bench. Smiley
5-Lunar - Yes
6-jfern - probably not.
7-bandit - No.
8-Flyers - Oh well...yeah...why not.
9-Keystone Phil - No. No way in hell, buster.
10-StatesRights - For a Northern district.
11-Jake - No.
12-Al - Yes.
13-migrendel - Yes, actually.
14-nclib - Yes.
15-nickshepDEM - Yes.
16-Sam Spade - Yes.
17-Harry - Yes.
18-Ebowed - Yes.
19-John Ford - Yes. Keeps him safely off the "Defense" Department.
20-John Engle - No. Silly you.
21-WMS - Yes.
22-Lewis Trondheim - If I want the job, or need the dosh.
23-KEmperor - Given certain judicial decisions I've seen from him, no. Oh wait, that would apply to John Dibble as well. Whatever. Could certainly convince me to vote yes.
24-Bob - Yes.
25-angus - Yes.
26-Nym - Yes.
27-Ernest - Yes.
28-Peter Bell - Yes.
29-Mike Naso - no.
30-phknrocket1k - See under 2.

Basically imagine you're a Senator and all of these forum members have been nominated for judicial positions. Say whether you'd vote to confirm them or not:

1-Philip-no
2-BRTD-yes, grudgingly
3-John Dibble-yes
4-opebo-no
5-Lunar-yes
6-jfern-possibly
7-bandit-no
8-Flyers-yes
9-Keystone Phil-yes
10-StatesRights-yes
11-Jake-no
12-Al-no
13-migrendel-no
14-nclib-yes
15-nickshepDEM-yes
16-Sam Spade-yes
17-Harry-yes
18-Ebowed-yes
19-John Ford-yes
20-John Engle-don't know who this is, does he still post here?
21-WMS-possibly
22-Lewis Trondheim-possibly
23-KEmperor-yes
24-Bob-yes
25-angus-yes
26-Nym-yes
27-Ernest-yes
28-Peter Bell-yes
29-Mike Naso-definitely not
30-phknrocket1k-no

Granted, I mainly used social issues as the ones that would qualify.  Some people who are too different I disqualify, but I think overall, I'm generous with this.

I'd put Liberty or Alcon before most of these anyways.... (I know you can't think of everyone to put on)
