Not a huge fan of either, but I'll chose the one that didn't contribute to an ideology that led to immense death and suffering worldwide.

Glad you voted for Marx. Smiley

Great Depression led to Hitler.
The Great Depression occurred when Ayn Rand was an angry, miserable Russian immigrant nobody trying and failing to get We The Living published.

Considering that the description of that video links to an interview praising Stalin, you've kind of proved his point.

To those who blame Marx for what Stalin or Mao did: you do realize that Marx died in 1883, yes?

I must have missed that part of Capital where Marx recommends forced industrialization and liquidation of the peasantry and/or collaborating with Nazis

As sh*tty as David Duke is, he's not (to my knowledge) responsible for hundreds of deaths.  An easy vote, with nose held.

By this logic, I guess you can blame Jesus of Nazareth for the actions of Paul or Constantine then. Or the Crusades.

So, the ideas of Rand which have never been close to being implemented are more destructive than an ideology that has caused millions of deaths (which, yes, to fair, aren't the direct fault of Marx).

As for the Jesus analogy: Jesus preached the exact opposite of what happened. To my knowledge, Karl Marx never called for the liquidation of the Kulaks but never preached against violence either.

True Sanchez, but it still important to remember that all the oppression and terror was conducted by parties that in one way or another can be traced back to the Leninist tradition and Lenin broke with orthodox Marxism in some very central ways. It simply isn't fair to blame Marx for what the Leninists and all their descendants did. Actually Marx should be judged on his own merits and not Marxism, which Marx wasn't too unequivocally fond of. As he said:  "Je ne suis pas marxiste" (I am not a Marxist).

Marx advocated violent revolution against the bourgeoisie and agricultural collectivization, both of which were responsible for mass deaths in the Soviet Union, China, and elsewhere
