I wear things like this to political events only. I usually will wear a Ron Paul button, which I find brings a lot of attention from other young conservatives. I met a lot of people at the AFP summit in 2013 because of it.

I frequently wear a Ross Perot button to school, which incites laughter from teachers and bewilderment from everyone else
I also have a "Go Perot!" button....but I never wear it.
