Jim Traficant died a couple years ago, didn't he?

He died this past fall.

Meh. Ryan-Boccieri Senate/House runs in 2016 would admittedly be pretty cool, though it's not up to Boccieri whether or not he could run for an (unlikely) open House seat. As Boccieri said before, his wife gets the final say on that, and she's not ready to see Boccieri back in Congress (yet). That could be subject to change though.

Schiavoni would be the next best. He grew his status to Senate Minority Leader recently, he's a champion of the redistricting reform that was passed at the end of the session last year, has a great agenda for 2014-2015 (with a raise in the minimum wage/more regulation of charter schools/tax credits for low-income families/renewing spending for local govts etc.), and is a strong fundraiser. However, Schiavoni has angered liberals in the past with his vote to privatize the State Department of Development. Otherwise, aside from that, a good candidate for the district.

Traficanti, no way. If his 2014 endorsement for Jennifer Garrison and long-time friendship he had with you guessed it - anti-Semite James Traficant wasn't bad enough, he's the same guy who made a living cutting his county's police and firefighters. He would be an embarrassment to have in the Ohio Congressional Delegation.....and that's an understatement.

I think I speak for most Democrats in the state when I say we would much rather prefer Boccieri, Schiavoni, Cafaro, Hagan or O'Brien over Traficanti in Congress.

Regardless, Ryan's not giving up his seat in 2016, and if any of them are eyeing Ryan's seat they need to wait a little longer.

How about Boccieri run for Senate instead.
