Mixed economic system is the most sensible choice and the system that I like the most.

Regulated market economy complemented by a far-reaching redistribution program and well-funded public utilities.

Mixed, specifically the social market economy model of Germany.

Mixed, somewhat similar to what the US has, but less corporatism and a welfare system slightly larger in scope.

Voted market, although I suppose mixed might be more accurate since I do believe in some government regulations.

How is an economy directed by bureaucrats and political elites more democratic than one directed by consumers?

I'm not a Stalinist, so I obviously don't believe in an economy dominated by bureaucrats or political elites.

Why? Basically everyone is going to vote for "mixed" except for the libertarian wingnuts and their Marxist comrades.

Also seconding shua's question - perhaps a traditional economic system is where we trade cows instead of using money?

(I voted for 'market system' because this poll is lol).

It's my understanding that Barter never really existed though.

sure it did, and has, and does, in different ways, but it's generally an aspect of an economic system that is essentially market-based.  There are non-market based traditions such as a gift/reciprocity economy in its varied forms, but as a category they're hard to judge extricated from cultural and geographic context.
