And what, if anything, should be done about it?

While it is bad if they are guilty, which I guess still hasn't been confirmed, they stopped using the deflated balls at halftime and actually had better stats in the second half. So its pretty obvious that they still deserved the win (and maybe even would've played better if the balls weren't deflated).

I think nothing should be done about it, save for a new way of monitoring the balls used in the game. I'm not sure why the NFL doesn't just supply the balls.

Have to love the garbage that excuses this by saying, "We would have won anyway!" So a) they're essentially admitting guilt and b) if it didn't make a difference, why did they do it?

This should be the NFL's Calciopoli. Strip New England of at least one Super Bowl title.

Merkel should teach 'em how to get away with it.

Very legit obviously. Boston cheats.

What are the consequences if they "did it"? I assume they still get to play in the Super Bowl?

It's a minimum fine of $25,000, which is obviously nothing in NFL terms so that should tell you how little they view the infraction on face value. Expectation though is that due to history, Goodell will be pressure to add a bit more. Best case is a fine plus loss of a draft pick, worst case is Belichick is suspended for the Super Bowl.

I think that there's some truth to it, but it's not a big issue. Does it really affect the outcome of the games?

Aside from sports fans, who really cares?

Firing Belichick needs to pretty much be Automatic, and the Patriots would look better if they did that before the Super Bowl as opposed to After.

I've heard calls that the Super Bowl should be a forfeit for Seattle, but that doesn't seem right either. Belichick needs to be canned, and the NFL should suspend Brady for the game (let's face it, If Tom Brady objected this scandal wouldn't be happening), but that's no reason for a forfeit (and a waste of Katy Perry)

It's legit. ESPN also uncovered a 2012 interview where Brady said he liked an underinflated ball. So, doctoring balls after they've been inspected is an infraction that needs to be disciplined. I think there's too much of a history at this point with Belichick. He skirted the line with legal / illegal substitution of players the week before, and now this, which does cross the line. If they find out this was pre-meditated and is as appears, Belichick should be suspended four games, receive the minimum fine, and the Pats surrender a mid-round or late-round draft pick.

if the league doesn't do something, Belichick comes off as the smart kid in class who's allowed to get away with stuff no one else is with nary a slap on the wrist. I don't know if it was on here or not, but I've made excuses for Belichick before, and now I really can't anymore. There's too much of a pattern.

There would be riots if that happened. You can't just cancel the Super Bowl.

Per Adam Schefter on ESPN, the NFL is having a very difficult time finding evidence that the footballs were tampered with.

Penalize the Patriots 11 points in their next game, 1 for each ball that was under inflated.

Nobody in Seattle wants to win off of something like this. At least, I don't.

Most people aren't really looking at this objectively on its own merits; they're just letting their own opinion of the Patriots determine what they think should be done.

They should be stripped of the AFC Championship and the right to play in the Super Bowl, and it should be given to the Colts.  If you cheat, you should have to forfeit.

Unfortunately, that will never happen, because Roger Goodell has the moral compass of a sociopath and only cares about money.
