(Surry County, NC:)

Pop: 64%, 32 Votes
Coke:22%, 11 Votes
Soda:10%,   5 Votes
Other: 4%,   2 Votes

Never in my time in Mount Airy have I heard anyone call any kind of soft drink (besides the actual product,) Coke. Still makes no sense to me. My fam says pop pretty much, hear a few sodas here and there. I was the 32nd vote, I doubt they upgrade it from 31 on the site lol.

Erie County, OH (Home):
Pop 91%
Soda 6%
Coke 1%
Other 2%

Dane County, WI (Current):
Soda 56%
Pop 41%
Coke 1%
Other 2%

I retain the habits of the place in which I was raised. The Eastern Wisconsin soda island is an odd phenomenon though.

Coke: 83%
Soda: 11%
Pop: 4%
Other: 2%

Everywhere I've lived has a major "Coke" majority, except LA county which has a significant "Soda" majority.

Personally, I tend to use the generic "soft drink" with an occasional "soda" when I need to be brief.  I use "coke" only as a generic for any sort of cola, including Pepsi.

This is almost exactly me, except I also sometimes say "soda pop" in an exaggerated Minnesota accent (but normally under my breath, for fear of becoming an annoying guy who does exaggerated accents in front of other people).
