I don't really understand this thread. Is it supposed to imply that oakvale and his "faction" are SJW's?

There's a very strange meme in Atlas culture that Oakvale and Gully Foyle are "ban boyz," mostly due to their activism against Opebo. Gully's taking of Opebo's vile postings from another forum was seized upon by Grumps and his ilk as proof of their dislike of sex. Which has gotten conflated with Social Justice-oriented positions held by some folks on the forum and out mostly due to their concerns about Rape Culture, etc.

Which is confusing because really no one on the forum is very prudish (Perhaps one could describe Madeline as such, although that would be wrong). Some of these folks seem to think that the main objection to Libertas's unbanning came from such folks, which obviously untrue. See Snowstalker's past fawning over Opebo versus Madeline and Alfred's support of Libertas.

And some people also think that the criticism of Opebo's postings on other forums is  because people don't like sex, or whatever. Which is patently untrue--Opebo's postings were misogynistic and seemed to indicate some coercion of the prostitutes he was frequenting.

This is silly. Do people even still use sextants? I have never sailed anything larger than a small dinghy, yet I know this (Age of Discovery, anyone?). This isn't about "privilege", it's about knowing things; "underprivileged minority kids" might not have ever learnt this, but when you're taking a grad school exam it's not the direct fault of privilege or the exam that you don't know but someone else does.

That's how the English language works. Be thankful you don't speak French, Spanish, or... most other languages really, which have far more ingrained male-preference than English. This has nothing to do with the exam.

What is the purpose of this, King?
IMO, they works much better than he and should replace he in that context, as it has already done in speech.
