Oh yes, this is my bill.

I wanted some police reforms, and I left holes in the bill so we could discuss that potential. The fact is, police violence has gone far beyond what is acceptable and we need marked changes to our police force in order to make sure they follow their own rules.

So like putting go pro cameras on them? I'm fine with it if we can afford such an expense.

My estimate puts the cost of putting GoPro camera on every Cop in the South would cost about $32 Million. Now that estimates the IDS having about a fifth of the police force, and the cameras cost $19000 per 54 cops (as a study done on a potential policy on the Ferguson police force).

Beyond this, is there any other ideas on how to reduce police violence (I have one amendment idea in mind but I want to expand it before I do).

I also think the information from the camera should be on public record. Not sure if that's the case with dashboard cams.

Another possible provision I had in mind (and this would reduce costs a tiny amount, I think) is to eliminate any potential criminal charge on someone who is recording an officer. What does the Legislative body think of these possible additions?

Officers who do their job properly shouldn't worry about it. They should be proud to see the public look at them do their job right. I get your concern, but I disagree with you on the ideals. We can talk about limits though, if you have some specifics you would like to amend.

I guess I could get rid of that portion of the bill. At the same time, I think there needs to be some sort of necessary release of said video, whether that's in a court room where a defense lawyer inquires for it or something else, to make sure police procedure was followed.
