So the United States got involved in World War I. Public reaction to the Red Scare, Prohibition, some wartime civil liberties violations, and an economic downturn are likely to turn out negatively for the incumbent Democrats.

Cox....no point in voting Republican even now, given all the reforms Underwood allowed, and I highly doubt he re-segregated the military.

To vote Harding from a Populist Democratic standpoint is useful only in spiting Wilson (which I originally without hindsight admit I'd do), but he lost re-nomination anyway.

So Cox, and Cox again if he wins and runs for re-election. He probably would've had a better chance to actually articulate himself without that influence
