Really like what I've read about Dewey.  And I know he's hated on this forum, but I believe Rockefeller would have made a good President had he ever gotten the nomination.  No, he wasn't perfect and he clearly was a little power hungry, but his family had a genuinely impressive civil rights legacy, and I think he would have brought better leadership on that issue than Eisenhower, Nixon or JFK (not that any of these three had particularly bad records).

Always was a fan of Wendell Willkie for some reason, the guy just had it. The IT factor. He seemed like a decent man he just got fed to the wolves. Even FDR liked him.

Put him in another decade with more experience he prob could have won.

John Fremont-1856
Charles Evans Hughes-1916
Wendell Willkie-1940
Thomas Dewey-44/48
George Bush-1992

Absolute favorite:

Mitt Romney-2012. He would've brought competence, experience, grace, and honor back to the White House. It kills me that he didn't run this time.

Ah please-this isn't game of thrones. A president doesn't need those rather false qualites like honor and grace. I don't call it graceful to bet $10,000 over a political decision, I don't call it experience to label 47% of the electorate as quasi-slaves to the democrat party just because they don't pay tax and by god I don't call it competent to oppose a car bailout that saved thousands upon thousands of jobs

Isn't 1916 a bit earlier for famed director John Hughes to take a stab at the White House?
