Up until today, I was sure it's SLD. However it seems PASOK is about to surpass them.

Can either party be accurately described with those words though? Dubious.

Let's remember the Flemish socialist party is the only one openly admitting to being different.

On a scale of  influence over government policy / size of parliamentary group, they rate high on the pathos scale, although I think PvdA might give them a run for their money.

(Although at this stage, Labour are arguably just our local equivalent of Radikale Venstre or D'66 unconvincingly clenching a rose between their dentures rather than an actual social democratic party.)

Not that the position means anything, but Georgie P is still president of the Socialist International and that's kind of amusing.

PSOE deserves at least some honorific mention.

Only if you eliminate the de facto no longer SD parties and even then they are better than PS and SPD.

I wouldn't say they are better than SPD or PS, looking at the pathetic spectacle PSOE leaders are performing as of late. On the other hand, I only said "honorific mention": PASOK deserves the award by far.

Pasok, Irish Labour and SLD are in the "de facto no longer SD" category.

All right. Those parties actually seem rather pathetic. However, do you count economic policies to qualify a party as SD? I wonder how many would pass the test.

I would consider the bolded ones SDs and the crossed out non-SDs, but there are a lot of Eastern European parties where I am in doubt (left populist, ex-communist, tools etc.) and a lot I do not know enough about, then there are the left nationalist. Not easy to draw the line.

I don't really feel like calling the SPD of Germany or the PSOE pathetic due to their proud histories. Parties like PASOK have always been jokes.

Harmony is pretty bad, as well as other pro-Putin parties in the Baltics. I think the Pole SD's are the most incompetent though.

If I may throw SPÖ into this pot, since Kreisky's term they have practically accomplished nothing despite being in government for 24 of the last 30 years...

You should add the Republican Left of Catalonia to the list. They define themselves as SD and have enough relevance. It's hard to draw a line, indeed.
