I don't really feel like calling the SPD of Germany or the PSOE pathetic due to their proud histories. Parties like PASOK have always been jokes.

Harmony is pretty bad, as well as other pro-Putin parties in the Baltics. I think the Pole SD's are the most incompetent though.

Harmony isn't pro-Putin. Some of it's members are but the leadership has always focused on promoting Russian civil rights over a foreign policy link with Russian. Now they're not even focuses on Russian civil rights that much anymore, instead trying to be pure social democrats.

Plus, coming in first in the last two elections is hardly pathetic regardless of their ideology.

The ČSSD is pretty embarrassing, though I'm not sure if they could really be called social democratic anymore.

A couple examples why the SPÖ can sometimes be classified as a joke party:

* A Carinthian SPÖ politician recently called for prostitutes to be excluded from the voter lists, because "they have no clue what these elections are all about". Funnily, the ÖVP mayor of the town where the brothel (Carinthia's biggest, btw) was located strongly defended the prostitutes' voting rights (and of course they will be allowed to vote in March).

* The Salzburg state SPÖ-leader, who earns 4000€ a month (14 times a year), once said that "this is not enough and I can't live with only 4000€ a month" and that he wants 7000€ a month. The average income/pension of the SPÖ-voter (mostly retired people) is something like 900-1500€ a month.

Depends what do we understand by "pathetic". SPÖ is certainly not "pathetic" when it comes to their ability to stay in power, while parties such as SLD and now PASOK becomes increasingly impotent.

The consensual and correct answer is "the ones in my country."

No, far from it. There are a handful of obvious contenders with the choice made difficult by some doubt regarding whom to include under the SD label.

The party which makes up half the government and still allowed both the optics and the substance of this makes even Irish Labour look good.

I feel UK Labour are, at present, the most blunderingly inept, given the fact that, had things gone differently a couple of years ago they might very well be in a pretty good position right now, and yet here we are. Whilst parties like Irish Labour and the PvDA are more pathetic from an electoral standpoint, their goose was cooked because they decided to enter government; UK Labour have cooked their own goose (for the moment) in opposition, which is a pretty impressive feat.
