I plan on presenting a nominee to the Assembly shortly.

there isn't a vacancy, you're still technically a representative until the special election concludes

For the prosecutor for the SWE trial. I probably should've worded that better...

I think he's talking about a prosecutor to prosecute SWE, not a Northeast Representative.

Yup.

With that, I'd like to nominate rpryor03 as the prosecutor for the SWE trial.

If special prosecutor is considered an office, rpryor03 can't simultaneously be special prosecutor and Senator.  That violates the Atlasian Constitution.

Instead of necessarily being an officer, the SP could technically be an agent hired by the executive branch to do the job of prosecution?

When I announced my run for governor, I honestly didn't think I had much of a chance to win. I was going up against two very established names in Atlasia and one of the most popular Senators in Atlasia. To my shock, it actually worked out. I'd like to thank every voter who gave me a preference, and I'd like to thank my opponents for their grace in defeat, even if there previously some threats at a legal challenge.

Regardless, at this point, Atlasia is in serious need od radical change. As PGH said in his thread, consolidation and reducing offices is a necessity.  Competitive elections for every position are a necessity. All of us working together is a jecessity. I believe that this election in the Northeast shows there is still hope for the future and that together, we can save her.

Congratulations, Governor!

Since your Assembly seat is now vacant, you can name a replacement for the next 7 days.  IIRC, it has to be someone from the same party as you, at least in theory.  A special election to fill the seat will be held this upcoming weekend.  Candidates have until the election starts to declare.

You obviously also have to appoint a new Lt. Governor.

I'm hardly an expert on Northeast election law, but I think the bolded requirement was repealed a while back.

It seems to have been repealed and reinstated a few times, and the Wiki is in terrible shape.  I thought the last iteration put it back, but I'd have to research to be sure.  I don't think Governor Sawx paid much attention to parties when making his temporary appointments, so you may be right.

I think the same party law was repealed.

I've sent out a few PMs on the open Assembly spot, but if you have any interest, please send a PM and also run on Friday. Same goes for the LG (except that obviously only applies to people in the Assembly).

I think the same party law was repealed.

It was.  Then it was quietly put back in as part of the Assembly Special Elections Act 2015, which was signed into law on June 18, 2015.  There's nothing in Governor Sawx's office thread or the Wiki that's more recent, so that law has to govern.

As I said earlier, I will try to work on a codification of all Northeast election laws into one consolidated law this week if I have time.  This piecemeal approach with a partially updated Wiki makes it difficult to conduct proper elections.

I will be appointing Superman to the Assembly to fill my vacant seat. Of course, there will a special election on Friday, and I encourage anyone else who has any interest to run.

I'd also like to announce that I'll be appointing DemPGH as my Lieutenant Governor. I'm also working on a budget to present to Assembly for the term. I hope to get it there by this time next week.

Also, we may need a new prosecutor who is not an officeholder since rpryor is in the Senate. If you're interested, please send me a PM.
