Winfield organizing for blizzard recovery

Former Northeast Governor Winfield is instructing and organizing this group of Northeasterners in the steps to be taken before and after the monumental blizzard of 2015.

Press:  Governor, what have you been speaking to these people about today.

Winfield:  Thank you for showing up on this truly bitter day.  I have been advising them what supplies they should have on hand to fortify themselves during this blizzard, which is only going to be getting worse over the next day or so, and then, when the blizzard has passed, what steps are to be taken.

I have advised them now to head for home and stay there until the blizzard passes.

Press:  Governor, what will you be doing after the blizzard has passed through.

Winfield:  I will be doing what I always try to do at times of disaster, and that is to pitch in and help in any way that I can to help our people, and to alleviate their suffering and hardship.  I have already organized volunteer teams to start digging out once the blizzard has passed.

Press:  Thank you Governor.

Winfield:  Thank you, and take care of yourself.

Pictured are two of the thousands of volunteers that former Northeast Governor Winfield has organized to find people today, Tuesday, in need of shelter and to start shovelling snow when the blizzard subsides, likely tomorrow, Wednesday.  These volunteers have come to be known as the "Winfield Brigade".

Press:  Governor, who named these volunteers the "Winfield Brigade"?

Winfield:  Well, that's a good question.  I led the effort to recruit the volunteers, and a group of these volunteers, from Yale University in New Haven, my alma mater, started calling themselves the "Winfield Brigade", and the name seems to have stuck.

Press:  What are these volunteers involved in?

Winfield:  Yes, thank you for that question.  Today, we have been attempting to seek out and find any homeless people and get them to the nearest shelter.  Tomorrow, the blizzard is expected to subside.  At that time, we are fully ready, willing, and able to hit the streets and begin the  task of shoveling out from under the snow that has inundated the area.  This snow shoveling will be directed mainly at residential areas, driveways, sidewalks, digging people's vehicles out from under the snow, areas not cleared by the snow ploughs.

And let me thank the first responders who have been out since yesterday with snow ploughs and have been doing a magnificent job under these very trying circumstances.

Winfield:  Thank you very much.  And before I go, let me say that anyone who wants to come out tomorrow and help in this show shoveling undertaking, they are most welcome.  No one will be turned away, I can assure you.

Members of the "Winfield Brigade" in the process of helping the people of the Northeast dig out from under the snow from the great blizzard of 2015.  Thousands of volunteers, organized by former Northeast Governor Winfield, have fanned out across the Northeast to assist in this monumental task, clearing people's driveways, sidewalks, digging out vehicles from under the snow.

Indeed, much of New Jersey, New York, Pennsylvania, were spared the brunt of the storm, but New England really got slammed.  However, Long Island was not spared. 

Most of these brave volunteers are currently in New England helping where they can, also with a large contingent in Long Island today.  We are dispersing our volunteer resources throughout the region where needed as best we can to meet demand.

I am shoveling snow today in Newport,  Rhode Island.

Yes, that particular volunteer went that little extra, symbolic step, and that meant a great deal to Bostonians, and might  I say to Atlasians everywhere.
