In 2008 17,367 DC residents voted Republican.  In 2012 that number increased to 21,381.  That's almost a 25% increase!  Also, the city has been getting whiter in recent years.

How long until DC becomes competitive?  When will they elect a Republican mayor?  When will they vote for a Republican President?  Pat Buchanan is from DC, maybe he could win the district.

Carly Fiorina will carry DC. Hillary is not inevitable in DC.

I suppose it could drift toward 70/30 Dem, but that 70% is probably unbreakable in a general election unless the Dem candidate is filmed committing a violent crime.

In a huge long term alignment where rich urban voters become Republican and black people aren't as monotonically democratic.

Outside of that, it will never happen.

And probably then only if it was a small child.

John Huntsman is a moderate candidate that will have significant crossover support.  Maybe if he chooses Buchanan as his running mate (home state advantage obviously) they could win some precincts and make Clinton spend money to defend the district.

I think this ticket could win 700 electoral votes.

Add the Moon Colony's 245 electoral votes (voted 99% for Huntsman because of Newt Gingrich's endorsement) and you get:

Huntsman (R-UT)/Buchanan (R-DC): 700 Electoral Votes
Clinton (D-NY)/Castro (D-TX): 83 Electoral Votes

Stop trolling please. The idea that the whites moving to DC aren't overwhelmingly Democrat...

The idea that wealthy, more educated voters makes red states turn blue...

Don't be GOP hacks. It is a scientific fact that the Dem candidate could be filmed dressing as Hitler while setting a school bus full of puppies on fire and still win minimum 80% of the vote in DC.

Huntsman very well could win DC since that's where literally every single one of his supporters is Tongue

Never, because the elitist inside-the-Beltway Very Serious People will not let the rest of us in, unless we agree to play by their rules. So it is, and so it always has been.

Oh, you were asking about voting trends in presidential elections? How dull. Sad
