I need to get my absentee ballot and vote for him.  I already have some material of his from his Senate campaign.

Ehh not like he's going to win the primary. Or is it too cloudy of a future to say so with certainty?

He might win the primary. I don't think he has a chance in hell in the general.

With Four major candidates and one minor candidate (as opposed to his 2014 senate primary, which was just him and McConnell as Major candidates and a plethora of minor candidates that got hardly any votes), we could easily see a primary like this, with Bevin sneaking through with nowhere near a majority:

Bevin: 29.3%
Comer: 27.5%
Scott: 20.4%
Heiner: 18.6%
Rosier: 4.2%

In the general though, Conway would probably beat Bevin 53-46 or thereabouts.

I think Kentucky might still require a runoff in the primary. I don't think they repealed that. But I think the treshold to avoid a runoff is only 40%.

^^ That's within the realm of possible outcomes, Wulf, but I think that's probably a real downside for Comer. I'm pretty optimistic about him hitting the mid 30s. I know PPP had him lower, but he's clearly the most serious candidate. Bailey seems like a bigger threat to steal his votes if she entered the race to make this a 6-way race. That would concern me, but Scott is from a different part of the state and is sort of old news while Comer is a young star who's already won statewide.

Admittedly, I don't know that much about Kentucky, but I'm quite optimistic.

1.It looks like Rosier didn't file.
2.For what it's worth, the only opposition in the Democratic Primary to Jack Conway,  Geoff Young, withdrew

Bevin is not automatically a loser in the general (especially facing Conway). I don't know why people assume he is.

I think Geoff Young is back in with a different running mate.

Geoff Young would be interesting.

Exactly.  I'm from Kentucky and there were a lot of independents who liked him more than McConnell.

Everyone likes Bevin more than McConnell. Especially Democrats because he's a Jim Bunning level joke.

He resembles Bert from 'Sesame Street'. So if he wins, Kentucky will have had both a Bert and an Ernie as governor during this century.

Yeah true, at least he actually comes off intelligent when he speaks.

He seemed to do better in the cities during the 2014 Senate primary. Kentucky has a closed primary, why were the Lexington/Louisville Republicans more supportive of Bevin?

Perhaps as a backlash to Mitch McConnell's negative campaign

Bevin lives in Louisville and had campaigned there more I believe.  The Bevin 2014 signs were up all over Northern Kentucky.  Don't know about Lexington though.

I expect McConnell to do everything in his power to make sure Bevin does not make it out of the primary.

It didn't work with Rand Paul...
