Working people of Atlasia,

The Atlasian Democrat today reported not only an attempt on my life by racist elements opposed to the passage of the Civil Rights Act of 2014, but also far-right extremist elements raising security concerns across the country. Secretary of the Interior Hagrid has made available additional resources for law enforcement in light of these concerns, but I say to you that these are ultimately a futile attempt to police a conflict between hostile and contending classes, one that the state in reality has no interest in concluding in favor of the oppressed.

The state, as Lenin described in The State and Revolution, built upon the foundations of Engels and Marx in their various works, is an instrument by which one class exercises its rule over another. As a revolutionary, I act in order to steer the state toward confrontation with the contradictions of the economic base whereupon it stands. My ultimate end goal (and the ultimate end goal of those of us on the socialist left) is the abolition of not only class society, but of the state itself. The obvious links between the state apparatus and members of racist organizations (especially in the Atlasian South, as has long been historically documented), or the employment of outright reactionaries, give us pause when considering how effective the police actions ordered by Hagrid and our lameduck President will be in repelling racist and other anti-social attacks upon working people of all colors, races, and nationalities.

The Civil Rights Act of 2014 is not a panacea. It will not end racism, it will not end sexism, it will not end bigotry. These things exist on account of the division of society into classes. They are the byproduct of capitalism. However, it does provide important reforms that ultimately steer society in the direction of full-on confrontation with capitalism and helps those who need it the most. It encourages the formation of working class solidarity and therefore I encourage the Senate to pass it if (and likely, when) the President vetoes it. It is a good bill. It is a symbol of our struggle for a better world.

There are those who do not want to see it pass. They are willing to use violence to attempt to prevent it. The state is at best indifferent to the working class movement for self-emancipation. In lieu of that, I call upon all able-bodied working class people to form self-defense units. We shall not engage in any provocative activity, but respond only if our lives or livelihoods are threatened by those racist, bigoted, or other xenophobic elements upset by this bill. I am announcing today the formation of such a self-defense unit within the confines of the Midwest, which shall be christened The Nat Turner Brigade. I encourage all Midwestern workers to join us for our first mass meeting this weekend in Minneapolis, where we shall begin a process of organizing a national network of working class self defense units for the coming period.

1) Could you briefly explain why taking up arms is necessary at this point, as opposed to more convention means of self-defense (such as the police)?

Some of my staffers were nearby and noticed radical socialist pamphlets on the the individual arrested.

This was not reported by me, nor was it the case. There were no pamphlets or anything else of the kind either socialist or capitalist found in possession of the arrested individual. I'd be glad for you not to put forward such incorrect nonsense.

Given the role Capital has played in developing bigoted ideologies in the past, and given that the police have themselves proven not to be entirely reliable on this issue, I do not think it appropriate to rely on the police. Self-defense is self-defense. I am not calling for violent confrontation, I am calling only for armed self-defense if the terrorist right goes on the offensive.
