Apparently he is having presidential doubts. Obviously, Vitter will win the governor race. Why not run for his seat in exchange?

Apparently he is having presidential doubts.

Are you basing this on the Onion story?

After his SOTU response, when he said that we should cut social programs and not raise taxes, and his state was a model for fiscal responsibility, in the wake of Katrina aid, that put a skid on his presidential campaign.

I don't think he is should run for public office again, and the voters won't affirm that, but he will have to decide that.

Well, I mean he's pretty young. Maybe by the time Cassidy retires, people won't remember his disastrous tenure as Governor as much.

I could see it happening.

He's relatively young, and would have a higher profile in the Senate than in the presidential race.

My impression is that he doesn't along well with Vitter, so if Vitter becomes Governor, I'm not sure he'd appoint Jindal to his old spot.

How unpopular is he, if I may ask?

I think he should just run for President, to raise his profile, then come back and run for governor again.

His approval rating is 23 points under water

^ He waited until after he was reelected to roll out most of his more controversial fiscal/structural reforms.

Easier to elect than Scalise, not that there are any Democrats left in Louisiana to run.

^ I'd actually say Scalise is still more electable. Except for partisan Democrats, few people in LA that I've talked with really buy into that story about him and Duke; there's a sentiment that he's being unfairly singled out.
